when i try to play cds on winamp, the tracks load and the timer clicks by (at normal speed) but the EQ is a flat line and no sound comes out. mp3s work fine. windows media player doesn't play the cds either, so i'm thinking it has something to do with my sound card, but i can't figure out how to adjust its settings. only thing i can think of is that i installed some codecs recently. i saw some links to other threads about this subject, but they're out of date. anyone got any ideas?

Similar Problem

I'm having a similar problem... Flat EQ, timer ticking, no sound. However, Windows Media Player WILL play my CDs. Hmmm.....?

Get CDReader: http://www.url*****~copah/CDReader.htm

Explanation: WMP uses digital reading for CD Audio, Winamp doesn't. If you don't have the Audio cable hooked up in you computer (internal thing) Windows mediap player can play them and winamp wouldn't. This is the most likeley cause of your problem. the CDReader plug-in will allow winamp tom read CDs digitally, like WMP.
