Soundcard problems

After the last windows actualization I can't play and broadcast music through winamp. The defalut divice is Realtek High Definition Audio. It looks like winamp can't find the soundcard Input. I've reinstalled winamp and DSP plugin. Right now I have DSP v2.2.3 I've also checked the previous sound card plugins etc. Any advice?

Is this on Windows 10 by any chance? Microsoft did something to the sound settings with the last update which may mean issues with sound on some machines (esp older ones)

I'd say yes the soundcard is probably the Issue Realtek never has played nicely with Windows and Media players I know that from experience which is why I avoid Realtek when buying a new machine now.

A new PCI soundcard is probably your best bet.

Hi, Yes this is on Windows 10. So your advice is to buy a new PCI soundcard? Is there any other way to repair it?

Either a new PCI soundcard or a new more powerful PC that doesn't have Realtek as its default sound card...

Realtek soundcards really did suck back in the day lots of audio software wouldn't function properly on a Realtek soundcard.

PC's today don't generally have PCI slots, in fact the PCI slot has been hard to find for a few years now - so unless the OP's current PC is old, a new PCI card is not going to help

Note: By the way, I run Windows 10 64bit, my less than 3 month since its release motherboard has RealTek onboard, and it works without any issues at all

Is it just me or are shoutcast users getting dumber?
