sc_trans - shoutcast v2 metadata display

I've starting using the shoutcast2 metadata which is using %R[ - ]%A[ - ]%N. I am familiar with displaymetadatapattern but that is for shoutcast v1.

What parameters can I use to specify the metadata display for shoutcastv2? I've seen other people asking this question but I haven't seen any responses.

I am using these versions (in linux):

sc_serv - v 0.2.0.0 b 0.0.13.0
sc_trans - v 0.2.0.0 b 0.0.40.0

Thanks!

there isn't really too much as what is displayed is based on the tags read by sc_trans on the file being played which is then sent to sc_serv which offers it in the format appropriate to the client connecting to it.

what is it you're trying to achieve?

I was trying to get the Artist - Title to display in the client. No matter what settings I try to modify, it's always displaying Artist - Album - Title.

Thanks

This is any client. I've tried Winamp, Itunes (Windows and Mac), vlc (windows, mac, linux) and they all display the metadata the same.

What what I can tell, the only metadata in the client being displayed is the title. When I open up the url in wmp, the only two fields populated for the info are the title and the genre.

ok, here's what i got (was a bit too slow with the last one for WMP)
code:
Winamp 5.601 + 5.61 beta Rush - Hold Your Fire (The Rush Remasters) - Tai Shan
Winamp 5.54 Rush - Tai Shan
VLC 1.1.6 Rush - Hold Your Fire (The Rush Remasters) - Tai Shan
WMP on Windows 7 Rush - Presto (The Rush Remasters) - Chain Lightning

from that, the Winamp display is what i'd expect (5.54 supports a slightly older version of the SC2 protocol so it'll only do what it does). however the result for VLC and WMP isn't what i'd have expected to see. i'm back on sc_trans dev work tomorrow so will have a look into things a bit more though could you email me (addy is on my site at the bottom) a copy of your sc_serv and sc_trans config files please (can remove auth hash and passwords - is just to get an idea of how you've got things setup).

i'm hoping the next build of the v2 DNAS (not currently released) will resolve most of the issue you've reported so it now outputs the title string as just 'artist - title' for clients connecting in v1 mode - hopefully that will resolve things (as it will fix also issues with the SC site and the popup player which itself doesn't like the 'artist - album - title' format).

I don't seem to be getting any metadata now. Did my config look ok?

Thanks

I restarted the scserv and sctrans and I'm getting meta data but it looks the same.

I may be confused. I thought that Winamp handles Shoutcast 2 metadata so why would it be displaying v1 metadata?

Thanks again!

Winamp 5.60x handles SC2 metadata otherwise all other players (to my knowledge) will only show the SC1 metadata in the 'artist -title' format if now using Build 17.

so based on the posts, that's not happening with build 17 in use?

i'll double-check things against the config files you sent previously later today.

It shows "artist - title" in all of my media players except winamp. vlc, itunes, and wmp are displaying correctly.

When I view the stream info in winamp, here is what it looks like:

Network received: 148747 bytes
Server: Ultravox 2.1/SHOUTcast 2.0
Content-Type: misc/ultravox(audio/aacp)
Ultravox sync: 60 messages, 0 desyncs
Ultravox Data Message: 0x8003
Ultravox SID/AvgBR/MaxBR: 1/64000/64000
Stream name: Radio Somewhere
Current title: Rush - Grace Under Pressure (The Rush Remasters) - Afterimage

I've checked the settings in winamp and I've told it to display artist - title.

Thanks

rightio, that all makes sense now.

stream titles in 5.60x are hard coded to try to do 'artist - album - title' as that was what i'd seen in the sc_trans code when i finished up SC2 support just in time for the 5.60x release. i should have clarified that earlier.

obviously that assumption now transpires to be wrong and for the next Winamp release it will be changed to do 'artist - title' if working with a SC2 source. also the ATF settings don't apply for stream titles as none of the handling has been changed / implemented to allow for a stream to act like a local file with respect to that.
