$1/GB SHOUTcast hosting service

Greetings,

I'm wondering how many people out there would be interested in a $1/GB (obviously bandwidth metered) SHOUTcast hosting service. No web hosting or anything ONLY the SHOUTcast server and a metered $1/GB unlimited connection account.

I'm thinking of setting up a dedicated SHOUTcast server and sharing cost of bandwidth. Please let me know if this is a good idea or if there is interest. If you're like me, then you don't want to pay for X amount of concurrent connections when people arn't even connected.

Stream guys offers a 30 listener server at 56k for $60 per month (as do many other companies). The same thing using your service would approach $600 per month. Definately not a steal..

Yeah I've been looking into those services. Problem is that for someone like me that's only going to stream a few times a week on a specific schedule (live events) it doesn't make sense really to pay for concurrent connections. Maybe there's others out there like me.

I don't want to make a mega station or anything.

I'm not a spokesperson for them, but stream guys offers scheduled servers at a reduced cost to you.

Yeah but their 1 day broadcasts are only slightly cheaper than just paying for an entire month. Broadcasting to 20 people once a week will cost a lot more with them than if I just pay for the bandwidth. That's why I was thinking of it. Oh well..

I Alredy have my own dedicated server
And if u did ofrer that before i wouldn't had to put 1 of my server online juste for the shoutcast purpuse.

Its a very good idea.
For people who dont know about who mutch bw they gona use
for a stream at 96/44/sterio witch is the max of a cable and dls modem upload. its about 15k sec witch is 54meg/hours/user

for some 1 that will broad cast to 20 peoples around 5 hours a week
54*20*5=5.4gig so 5.4$ base on a month 21.6$
if we are taking exemple whit a compagnie that i wont tell the name
its about 250$/year (not stable) to host u whit 56/22/mono

I think paying the BW is a great idea for tose user who want quality + stabelity

Great idea
