it's nifty not typing my 17 character password each time I fire up my laptop.
17 characters? I usually use something like "qqqq". Unless someone actually steals your laptop, that should be good enough. If it is stolen, no password matters. I do use strong passwords online. My briefcase combination is 4321.

I can just see myself eating a PBJ sandwich with sticky fingers and a fingerprint scanner.

The last thing I bought? It's near April 15th. I bought some government official a new car.

My Nikon 55-200mm VR lens came in earlier this week

My dog just used mine as a chew toy. Now I need a new one cuz he killed it. If you don't mind, where did you get yours?

People at work hate them (I work with conservative chemists here --- think no imagination). But not as much as the pair before those:

They [work] really hate those pewter koram flash shoes. Those shoes are reflective!!!! How cool!

However, work hates the Union Jacks more because they are decidedly un-American.

What ever.

edit:

I've got 14 pairs of shoes, 10 of which are docs ... do I have a problem? I've got more shoes than my wife

Yeah, April 15 gets people upset, but I ended up paying slightly lower in terms of percentage of income this year, although a higher dollar amount. I did get a very small return though; I guess our business manager did a good job of withholding the right amount. I had to fill out schedule L for buying the truck and M for being a "working couple" and some other form for moving expenses due to employment change.

The tablet/laptop looks beautiful. I'm quite impressed, and a little jealous that I don't have a touch/stylus screen. How is Windows 7 with that? I hear that it's really good but I have yet to play with a tablet running 7. 3G wireless is really expensive; don't they charge you per up/down unit activity?

The lens looks quite nice; I like the built-in hood. How much zoom does 200mm give? I'm stuck in the more popular ___x method of measuring zoom; e.g. point-and-shoot giving 3-4X, or a good point-and-shoot giving 20X optical zoom.

As for the "un-american" shoes... ask any dipshit that makes that claim to show you his tags on his clothes... Often, clothes claiming to be made in the USA are actually made in the south Pacific islands that are US territories, where minimum wage and age limit laws don't apply. It's not well known, but very common and sad-but-true.

Amazon...You look hard enough, and you can find some good deals...The MSRP on my lens is about $250, but I found a third-party vendor on Amazon selling one labeled under "used" but was really new (Just couldn't list it as such because of Amazon limitations), still in the package and all: $184+$6 shipping...Score

I don't even know...I can't really compute how magnification is measured... Magnification is a little difficult to compute with a zoom lens, I think, because of all the complexity with focal length and aperture versus a fixed magnification...

Anyway, the built-in hood is actually detachable...

I got used to playing with 7 on my netbook. I absolutely love it on this tablet. The handwriting recognition took a while to train, but it can read my chicken scratch pretty good. It has 2 points of touch input which kind of gets in the way when drawing with photoshop because I tend to rest my hand on the screen and it reads my hand as an input. I would easily purchase this notebook again.

The 3g internet I use is from Cricket. The service isn't the fastest (I usually pull 60-80Kbps) but it is unlimited. Tmobile, Sprint, Verizon, and AT&T all charge the same price for roughly the same speed but limit the data transfer to a few gigs. I pay around $45 a month for it. I have been on the road and couldn't find an open hotspot too many times, it's easier for me to just shell out the extra cash.

That's not a bad deal then. I had no idea that any company had limitless usage, so I guess cricket is a really good deal, especially if you're always on the go.

On the topic of the 2-point input, it's probably something you can configure to allow only one point of input if you want, however you'd still have the issue of a resting hand changing the location of that one input, just like a normal laptop touchpad.

Another $75 in gasoline (both vehicles were below quarter tank)... This hurts.

I drive about 57 miles per day for work and Renee drives an additional 3 per day for work, plus all non-work driving. I need a little motorcycle or something.

Dark Tranquility - We Are The Void; Didn't know they released it last month until last week, now I've got a bit of Gothenberg back in my life

The Art of War by Sun Tzu, Borders edition

Zeikos 52mm filter set, includes UV, C-PL, and FLD, and also came with a case for the filters; Bought it off an Amazon dealer for about $10

Converse leather fedora on clearance at Target for around $11

Moar Target clearance! Electronics had a bunch of stuff marked half-off since it was sitting in the backroom for so long not being sold...Scored an 8GB Samsung Q2 MP3 player ($50) and a Polaroid DVF-130 1.3MP digital camcorder ($30)...Very cheap swag, but in the end, very expensive impulse purchases since I just don't up and spend $80 like that, even if it's too good to pass up...

It's got a pretty huge tank though. I think its 38 Gallons/144 litres. Gas prices right now here are 106.9 CAD. And I believe that price is per litre.

My current truck takes 21 US gallons (79.5L) and the car takes 18.5 US gallons (70L). If I were to drain them empty and refill at $2.799 per gal, and it would cost around $110.56.

This of course doesn't take into account imperial gallons, which are bigger. That would make the capacity numbers lower and the fuel economy numbers higher.

When the flash of a camera goes off, your lens will block some of the light. So when you use a macro lens, and you're, say, an inch away from what you want to photograph: you can't. The object will be inside the shadow caused by your lens. A light ring takes care of that, letting you get as close as the lens lets you and the subject will be illuminated.

Not many like that, though I certainly will be now that I have a light ring on the way. You can see most of my photos here. There are a few insects and spiders there, too, for your viewing "pleasure", as well as some night time sky shots. I like getting up on the ass-end of things for close-ups, and the length of the lens is preventing that (due to the shadow). The light ring will take care of that. Most of the photos on DA were before I got my D200.
