nah... i could never get into any hubs. i only share ~ 12gb.

and the only good client is dc++, which is banned from several networks since it's opensource. it supposely can allow users to fake shared files, but so could using a patched official dc client. bunch of nazis over there, no thanks.

I like DC but i find it too complicated and never know which hub to go to.

I have many GB's of stuff to share but i think i will stay with kazaa for simplicity ^_^

But DC is better for movies though...

DC is good if you can get into any of the hubs, and then if the hubs have not been restricted to a certain download speed. its a bit annoying when you have 1mbit cable, and are only downloading at 2.5kpbs.

FTP is better for movies IMHO.

I still prefer WinMX over anything else. It runs on a good Ol' School P2P OpenNap Networking protocol, and It's easy on the eyes without a GUI that looks like another part of Windows (Like the new and horrid Morpheus), nice text-based searches and DL's that look like a facny version of DOS, another great OS that's been tossed out the window (or shoudl I say Windows?), and I've found more Movies/Music/Pictures on this File Sharing program than Morpheus or the now-problematci KazZA.

I doon't like hubs and I've gotten songs that I almost forgot existed off of WinMX. It's a great compliment to my WinAMP MP3 Player.

Definitely the best for anything other than music and maybe movies. And what's this about the hub limiting speeds? The slow connection would be caused by downloading from someone with a slow connection. The hub software doesn't have an option to limit speeds. if you're looking for a good hub to start on go to volvo.myip.org. you only need 6GB to get on (I think).
It's not as simple as morpheus and those, but you can actually get games and other software from it. I can never find what I want with the other programs. Bilbo Baggins is right about FTP being the best, though. It's the best for any download - if you know how to find them and get into them, then you have to find one with what you want.
Anyway, probably the best thing to do is have all of them and then you'll have a much better chance of finding what you want!

DC is bollocks for 56k users. Period.

iMesh may be full of adware / spyware but its better than KaZaA for me and faster and the connection is way better

iMesh, eh? I haven't used that one yet. I'll have to give it a try. I never liked kazaa, and morpheus isn't that great either (except for mp3's). I doubt I'll like it better than Direct Connect, though, just because I can never find what I want on the other ones.

Does iMesh really have spyware? Their web site has a big thing on it advertising that it's spyware free. I guess everyone uses false advertising now.

spyware

I installed iMesh and it's loaded with spyware. I love it, though. I can find a lot of things I can only get from direct connect. There's still a lot only direct connect has, but with those two I should always find what I want!

Have you tried dchub://volvo.myip.org? You should be able to get on that one and it's pretty good.

millsu2, i've tried that one, i didn't like it, not enough files. i usually use these:

[BBB]Sweden-Uppland (213.114.140.226)[*]Swedish DivX Zone (h3.mine.nu)
Sweden][Boras][Friends] (boras1.******.com)
[BBB]Sweden-Vaxjo #1 (dc.swe-boy.com)

i don't know why it is, but swedish hubs seem to always have tons of files . . . i think a few of these are part of a group of hubs.

Dang. Direct connect is been around for a long ass time.

but the real direct connect software sucks. use dc++ as the software to connect. It's much better.

I only use Direct Connect for porn mmmmmmmmm

I'd use Kazza, but I hate how it saves everyt thing as dat files until finished. So to view files while downloading I have to make a copy and rename the file. And if I'm downloading a bunch of files, I can't tell the files appart and i have to look at their filesizes and come up with some comparison to the size of the files im downloading and how much I've download. I hate that. ARGH!

Both of those hubs ban dc++. Try dchub://mp30002.servemp3.com or another underground network hub. Is this ok to post here?

Yeah, the Swedish hubs are great, but a lot of them require you to share more than 10 gig (from what I remember), and phisherman wanted one that would let him in.

Faking shared files is not the best way to go, you'll probably get banned if a moderator catches you. Plus most people will hate you because you're a freeloader and not helping the community. I haven't run into many that do it, probably because they get kicked by a script or the moderator.

I tried DC++ and didn't like it much, plus it's banned in many hubs and your IP will get banned. It's got some nice features, though, and the real DC should use some of them. The guy who wrote DC is supposedly rewriting the program. Maybe if a new version comes out it will have some good new stuff implemented.

the hub owners on direct connect are real A$$hole in my opinion they force you to share practically your entire hard drive and in some cases they require you to share 10 times bigger than you HDD actually is of corse thats why im staying away from it
