Paranoia

Why are some people so paranoid! I ask this cos my dad has to be the worlds most paranoid person! When he's leaving the house he pulls on the door handle really hard to quadroupple check its locked, he locks all the doors of the house (including internal ones) and he thinks that the house will set on fire if the tv is left on standby!!

Paranoia... isn't that considered a disease or something. Or trauma from something. I don't remember but it can be caused by many things. It could just be a fear of losing one little thing that means a lot to someone. Or it might be because he has expirienced something like that before and never wants it to happen again.

You'll find that it's normal. I have to check everything. At least 5 or 6 times.

Two thoughts:

1.) Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they AREN'T out to get you.

2.) Perhaps he's got somthing to hide/protect?

I don't consider myself paranoid, just healthily cautious.

Good Nirvana quote there Gonzo. I'm overly suspisios and checkstuff all the time. Like when I'm off to catch a coach home I check I've still got the ticket in my pocket a dozen or more times.

Mmm. It's not pathetic. Pathetic would be the looks on your families faces if you came home to a pile of smoking rubble where your home once stood. My neighbors across the street from me had their house nearly burn down a few years ago. A very sad time for them, it was. Be glad that your father cares, you could have a parent on the opposite end of the spectrum.

No. I'd find it annoying if I had to do it. But what's the big deal if he wants to "waste" his time doing that? To me, that'd be almost a comforting thought.

Peace,
