Why Have We Been Banned?!?!?

Hi there, we run Phluid Vision using the NSV technology to upload music and VJ'ing to the world. We've just tried to start up our server again and we have been told that shoutcast has permanently banned us due to a previous violation. What is this all about? What previous violation? We have done nothing intentionally wrong and would like an explanation of what is going on please.

Many thanks,

Phluid Vision

Who is your streaming host? Or are you self hosted?

A new ban which has been put into place recently deals with use of the minibrowser window. Anyone using this is automatically banned. Outside of that there are a few other reasons but you'll have to contact someone with Shoutcast to find out the specific reason - but a repeat violation means it's not the first time it happened.

We've never tried to use the minibrowser though... not intentionally anyway.

Aer you hosting your stream from your home or are you paying a provider to host either a stream server or a dedicated server?

I host my own streams also but I lease the box from a provider and it is hosted at their datacenter. Because the bans are placed on a subnet and not individual IP's I suffered a ban on one of my servers because of the actions of someone else on the same network.

You can usually PM peppert or CraigF who are pretty much the only ones who can give you a direct answer and it may take some days for them to respond, so have patience.

Thank you all for your help, t got sorted by Craigf in the end i think so big respect to him too. Megarock, how does one "lease the box" from a provider and host at their datacentre? Is it expensive, and how much bandwidth does that provide you with.
We are heavily reliant on people peercasting our stream on as we are stuck with 256k upload at the moment.

Overall it's about half the price of hosted slots but that depends on if you get a server with a set monthly bandwith amount or an unmetered one which gives you a 10 mb connection and as much as you can cram through it in a month but generally 80 - 300 a month.
