Sorry man, I'm not sure how the immigration is here or in the US.

"Welcome to the Island of people who know too much."..."Did you really think balloons would stop him?!"
See what I'm listening too.

You need to have legal status in the US to get a temporary work permit. You'll need to go through the entire process with the INS and it's gonna be expensive. As much as it pains me to say (since they're mostly slime) you should probably consult with an immigration lawyer. There are some toll free numbers you can call though to get more information from the INS themselves but damned if I can remember what they are.

When you come to Britain, claim Asylum. This way you get:

1) A house
2) Good weekly benefit money
3) Clothes
4) Access to anywhere for free
5) Immunity from the law

And much more!

As a Canadian, you can get a a TN-1 visa which is for NAFTA countries. You just need a job offer from a US employer before you go to the border, then without much hassle and for less than $100 you get your visa right from the customs agent. The catch is that the job must be 'professional' requiring a college/university degree.

There is no way to legally work at any two-bit job in the states without permanent residency status (green card).

The employer would also have to show proof that basically the job couldn't be filled by someone from the States.

You're right there Bilbo. Round here an asylum seeker was caught driving a car without insurance or MOT, and a photocopy of a tax disc in the window (while speeding through a residential area).

He had an international drivers permit which was endorsed with 6pts and he escaped a fine and is still allowed to drive.

If a UK citizen did that you'd get a 2 year ban minimum.

I can see it now:

Asylum Seeker: "Help! Help! Save me from those dastardly Americans! I'm being oppressed by enormous gas-guzzling cars and cheeseburgers!"

UK immigration official: "Fuck off."

No offence anybody...

There's no need to tell me when I'm right;
I operate on that principle exclusively and with absolute certainty

Pretty much the same here. The key phrase to remember is "I have been persecuted in my home country and if I am forced to return I will be tortured by the government/army/satanic cult/ex girlfriend"

This way you are kept in the country, but you aren't allowed to work here, so

you are given
1) A better house than me, for free
2) Weekly benefit money, plus whatever you can haul in from the streets (if you can play the accordion you'll clean up)
3) Clothing, food and heating allowance
4) Free education and healthcare for you and whatever family was in the container ship with you
5) Immunity from the law. Drivers licence, tax, insurance - guess what - you don't need them here!!!

we get
1) Crippled by taxes.
2) No allowances whatsoever, unless you can prove that you are a)physically handicapped or b)"seeking employment.
3) "Free" education, minus the "free" part.
4) Screamed at in Romanian by 4 year old kids, accordion players, or people selling "The Big Issue"
5) More speed traps, MOT checks, crackdowns on the ever dreadful and possibly lethal ....late pub opening hours...

Like my photography? Buy some here....

Actually they're not changing them quite yet - it was just another lie by Tony to get young people to vote for him in the last election.

Oh well.
