RPC is right, this is just them trying to disguise the fact that they got caught out. If the guy didnt draw this to our attention, WiFi wouldnt be going around handing out $10000 to each of the skins they ripped off.

well id be offering them the skin for 10k then... if it falls through theres no loss at all, and if theyre stupid enough to pay $10000 for a skin then they can have it!

just my opinion tho and im not the one who owns the skins

Yup, that's true tho...

That's a player using a skin based on the modern skin, applications have done that for years, it's not quite the same as this thing that used, and still is as far as I know, the actual winamp binaries as it's product.

Anyone seen leechbite lately by the way?

Nothing to do with me, administration banned him, he chose to align himself with the illegal WA3 clone, he paid the price.

What really fucking pisses me off is, he contacted me a while ago asking for some help in getting his DUI skins removed completely from winamp.com as he'd been contracted by a developer to help develop a similar system for another application.

As you might or might not know, when you remove a skin from the database here it dosn't totaly vanish, it still lives on and is accesable via the direct URL, it won't show in searches and so on, so I contacted admin several times asking for some help, admin looked, scratched heads, looked again and as far as I know might even still be working on it.

What he failed to mention was the fact that it was the wifi radio application he was working on, and to be honest if I'd have known that I wouldn't have lifted a finger to help out, why the hell should we help out with the development of something that is clearly not legal (in the words of the winamp developers themselves), kind of my own fault for not putting 2+2 together and making the connection with this, on the other hand if he wanted to be sneaky about it and not mention it, then that's his choice, I just wish he hadn't involved me even slightly in it.

Who says AOL aint suing them, Benksis last comments in here seemed to suggest AOL legal were 'all over it', maybe they still are, the legal wheels grind slowly sometimes.

However, I'm not sure why a cease and desist order hasn't been slapped on them and that would be an end of it.

Maybe wifi radio think they somehow have a legitimate claim to be doing what they are doing, I really don't know.

oh god, what a short-sighted move of leech. I can not image how you can choose to be associated with those wifi guys, that's professional suicide.

On his website, he explains how he's removed his DUI skins from "all the skin databases", including Winamp.com, but then goes on to say,
Quote:
Big thanks to Winamp staff for featuring Kameleon.
Is there such a thing as back-handed gratitude?

So is wifiradio finally kaput? Although some sites still offer a download, I noticed the main site is down. Did justice prevail?

quite a story. :O
on that note, does anyone have a copy of the most recent version of his kameleon DUI skin? i was able to find a link for it on the WA forums. but it's a beta, so its kinda buggy... strange part is that the link was from leechbite.com. kind of awkward that he didnt take that down. ive been searching for that skin for a while after a reformat. i asked him personally for the skin two days ago, but after reading this i doubt he'll even reply. thanks to anyone willing to send it to me

and sorry for resurecting a probably-dead thread. XD
