Cleaning your ears

I have a cold and it seems to have near totally disabled my left ear. I can still hear when I touch my ear but that's about it for the moment. Sounds more like there's something clogging my ear. Is there a way to clean it besides q-tips?

There is no sig.

Antihistamines help. But nothing beats warm water and a Q-Tip!(peroxide heated on a Q-Tip is good also)!

take a hot shower. you know how you clean your ears out after a shower and theres more wax on that there Q-tip than the biggest candle in the house???

"Well, got to love you and leave you, need to go get into the shower and rub my hard naked body all over with soapy bubbles, I'll be back later to carry on playing....

It'll take you some time to get over the image of me naked in the shower......mind you don't masturbate to hard thinking about it...."

You could do what my mum does when her ears are blocked, go to the doctors and get them syringed. (sounds fun)

She also puts oil in her ears to try and loosen the wax before she resorts to going to the doctors.

Hot shower, steam, inhaling essential oils (like peppermint, eucalyptus, or (unless you're allergic to it) tea tree).
If you're hardcore you can even put some tea tree oil on a q-tip, but don't even think about doing that with the other two.

I should probably just go to the doctor. I've had issues with this ear before.

Usually I can drink or eat some hot food and my ear will clear up a bit.

I have no problem with it. You're like one of those investigative reporters. You ask the questions that everyone else is afraid to.

They have ear candles that you can buy at any natural drug store. You stick one end if your ear, light the other (let it burn like incense), and the pressure sucks all the gross stuff out of your ear. It's incredibly relaxing and it works! I advise you have someone help you, however, because there will be minimal flame involved. They might even have them at a Whole Foods grocery store in the herbal section.

Haha or not...To each his own. I highly suggest reading those articles though, because they are informative and give good advice.

You might note the dangers associated with it are wax dripping on someone and unintentional fire, hence my suggestion to do this with someone else. Both of those are avoidable, so if you do it, be careful.

So far I'm liking Pixie's idea. I just need to get some q-tips. And I think my hearing is coming back now too.

Hook one of those up to a hose and stick the hose in your mouth...

Plug your nose with that...

Flip the switch, and...

Take an entire bottle of that afterwards...

Now, would insurance cover this or is this something you actually have to pay out of pocket for?

for usual cleanups, I sometimes double a kleenex facial tissue over the eraser end of a pencil, insert, and twist. It gets it all out, but it might be dangerous, so consider yourself warned. If your ears are too wet you risk leaving some of the fabric in there, so be careful if you try such a thing.

My honest opinion that I'd actually tell someone else - let the doc do it, then ask said doc for do-it-yourself instructions.

Don't forget to live before you die.
