Open Source?
Just read that Winamp is coming to an end. I've been using Winamp for about 15 years. I still prefer it over many alternatives for its simplicity, lightweight, library search capabilities (including ability to search the folder name where the mp3 is in) and tag editing tools.
Since the decision is to shut down Winamp, I urge Nullsoft to continue the legacy by open sourcing Winamp. That way the community benefits and Winamp will live on at next to no cost to Nullsoft. Nullsoft, please answer us whatever your decision to open source will be. I'm sure many of your long term fans will appreciate it. |

I think you're dreaming about Winamp becoming open source.

Neither are you. Just grasping at straws.
Even if you could get permission to re-distribute the final binary..... which I doubt AOL will permit either... what is Winamp without the associated services? |
