NEW 5.9 Upgrade Corupted My Winamp

Hey guys, I had the 5.8 v of winamp and got a popup last week to upgrade to the new version. Once I did that, It has not been the same. NOw i get erros trying to open Winamp version 5.9 so i went back and got the old version of 5.0 winamp but now i can use some of the features I was used to. I use shotcast to stream and the transition feature wont work on 5.0.

Am i the only one who had this problem and when is winamp gonna fix this bug. Im sooo sad.

What errors are you getting?

Never underestimate the bandwidth of a station wagon full of tapes hurtling down the highway.

not sure

It wont even load. I get a error dl error. Im not at home now but when I reload the new 5.9 again, Ill write it down and post it. The simple fact is, ever since my history of using winamp, i never had a issue till now.

Im really bummed.

I don't dare to upgrade to a newer version! No way! My Winamp (5.08) runs well (apart from the harmless odd crash every now and again) and every tiny little setting is set to my liking, which took me quite a while. But most important of all is my perfect media library with all it's statistics (playcounts, nearly 1000 individually rated songs, etc.), all those custom smartvies, column widths, playlists, bookmarks, etc...
Everything is so neatly adjusted in my Winamp (I admit, I'm a bit anal about my ML ), that I would never dream of updating, considering the results of this Poll. I'd HATE to loose all that...

The only reason for me to consider updating would be, if one of my (at least 10) ideas/wishes submitted to the winamp wishlist would ever be implemented. But I doubt that's ever gonna happen.

greets

The poll had 6 entries over 2 months, how can you call that accurate?

If you have problems (with the most recent version of Winamp, not older versions] post on the forums with your system specs, a HijackThis log, and an accurate description of the problem. We'll see what we can come up with, given this IS a volunteer opportunity, and we aren't paid.

Info on backing them up:

http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....=161361#backup

winamp.ini, studio.xnf, gen_ml.ini, reg entries, backups etc
http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=158332
http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=209601

Backing-up Media Library database ratings/playcounts:

Maybe that will coax you into upgrading, who knows? but nonetheless, there is the information.

Thanks, jmatthews112, I have ofcourse informed myself on how to backup the stuff long ago. I know those threads already. I backup my ml-statistics every other week.

Ofcourse you are right, that the poll might not be accurate, but I am too pessimistic anyway when it comes to fiddling around with complex software, though experiences in the past.
