New iPod Game - "Phase"

There's a new iPod game called Phase out. Long story short, iTunes makes a special playlist on the iPod called "Phase Music" that triggers a special function in iTunes as well as in the iPod game Phase. Something mlipod does to playlists breaks the "specialness" of this playlist, and turns it into a normal playlist, so that Phase on the iPod sees no songs, and the next time you open the iPod in winamp, it creates a new and empty "special" Phase Music playlist.

Is there any chance one of the devs would want to throw a little time into making this work right with mlipod? I purchased the game and am happy to help provide sample files.

iTunes knows about that game, and only then it creates that playlist?
I don't think that I'll spend money on iPod games

But maybe an archive helps: After iTunes created that PL and the game works, save the iTunesDB from your iPod. Then open Winamp, eject iPod, reattach it. Now create archive with
"iPod icon->Help->Create archive for bug report"
and upload it to http://stashbox.org for me... Upload the saved iTunesDB from iTunes, too (you can add it to the zip, if you want). Thanks

I'll do just that. I have an excellent test iTunesDB file made up. Just two songs, one added to the "Phase Music" playlist, the other not. I'll make that archive and send you a link.

Maybe it'll be better to have 3 songs in each playlist. Makes it easier to see the diffs...

Yes, that helps. Give p04 a try, maybe it's fixed already...??? (Not sure, there are too many diffs in the two iTunesDB's)

Oh man, I'm so sorry. I forgot all about this. I hate saying I'll do things and then not following through. Do you still need an archive from me, or was traflaz's enough?

Maybe yes. Follow the above post exactly. traflaz one's did help, but he had no songs that were not in the Phase playlist. As I saw in his archive, there are a lot of other files involved in that game. So it might be possible that changing the iTunesDB is not enough. Then we have little chance to fix it, which means you have to stick with iTunes if you want to play that game

Any news on this?
The iTunes info said Phase will work with your own music, but doesn't say that it requires iTunes to preprocess it. You have to go to the Harmonix web site to see that.
So I bought the game but can't use it. I would like to setup the Phase playlist just once and be done with it.

Doesn't work
If you want the game, you have to use iTunes all the time

We need a C++ developer who wants to play that game on his iPod and wants to contribute here...
Personally, I won't do it.

hehe, I have the qualifications but probably not the time (having to work for a living sucks!)
Does this mean you understand what the issue is and need someone to code support for it?
I don't even like the game that much, I just feel like Apple ripped me out of my 5 bucks.

I spent a couple of hours on it already, and still don't know what the problem is.
And yes, I have to work for a living, too. Three kids and a wife want to eat... That's why I won't do it.

I just wanted to say that I appreciate the time you did put into it, since there was clearly no benefit for you. I never followed up on it since I knew it wasn't going anywhere fast and felt bad about imposing on you. I wish I could compensate you for looking into it further, but it'd be hard to justify a big enough donation for a game that only cost $5! Anyway, thanks again for looking into it as much as you did.

traflaz i how what the porblem is and i have a way around it. the problem is that it is only authroized to you. so a way around that is going into my music then click on itunes. when in the itunes folder, you click on ipod games and make a copy of the IPG file of phase then create a zip file of the phase IPG file. Problem solved and once you do that can you send a link so people can have the phase game too

Yeah, I bought the game too, and I was wondering if there was just a way to have Wimamp ignore the playlist altogether and not even show up when you connect your iPod, then just have it show up in iTunes.

Not sure that would help much, I can't seem to use winamp and iTune together, it's one or the other.

I gave up on phase, too bad, it seemed like a fun game.
