What kind of crap is this? SETI isn't a multithreaded ap

This had better be more enjoyable than tivocrack, cuz I usually run that.

And On that day, the Lords of the land said unto their Master Architect, "The temple you have made to the gods of Wasabi and Maki has brought us no great prosperity" and they sent out him into the lands.

As he traveled to a far off land, he found he wasn't traveling alone, but that he had gained companions, and when they found their new land, they started work on a new temple, one that would be OPEN to all who wanted to worship.

If you read the help in the CLI version you can pass a parameter to it to tell it which CPU to use (-cpu N). Then I supppose you could write a script to set it working on both your CPU's if you wish.

code:

options:
-version show version info
-login log in
-countries show list of country codes
-proxy hostname:port connect to SH server through specified
proxy server
-stop_after_process stop after current WU - do NOT send result
-stop_after_xfer stop after current WU - DO send result
-verbose print running status
-nolock skip multiple-instance check
-socks_server hostname:port SOCKS proxy
-socks_user name SOCKS user name
-socks_passwd passwd SOCKS password
-cpu N set client to run on CPU N

Three already today, and I run a webserver running php and mySQL.

Also I admit that I keep this computer running all day since the early hours in the morning.

Webservers aren't that CPU intensive though . Still nice tally for today . I've got 4 so far but I forgot to boot into windows before watching T2, so I've lost a good 2.5hrs today. Could have done 6 too, will have to settle with 5 .

I believe that I have the fastest average CPU time per work unit, thankyouallverymuch.

OK, so my CPU temperature is 68C, but what the hell.

I love my computer too much to let it work 24/7. It only works when I need it to, not some aliens with ancient radio equipment

Seems like I only make about 2 WU/day but it's alright I suppose.

My laptop has now come on line (thanks to a new network switch) and earned me this little beauty... so STOMP!! () to cgfiend and PaRp!! to parksie ()... though there's not long left of SETI@home... I don't think I can manage to stomp him

Oh well...

Doesn't matter to me who is on top. I don't run it 24/7, nor do I have multiple computers running it constantly. An 800Mhz processor isn't the fastest thing out there. When these things are taken into consideration, I'd fall behind eventually. I'm not into the ego thing anyway.

The thing is.... my main PC can do a WU in about 8 hours, but my server (which I've also got running it) takes about 36 hours. So I end up with an average time given instead....

whoa dude, you took the words right out of my... fingers.

i tried to sneak the proggy on my dad's comp while he was at work, but he found out. i've started to become very evil recently, but it's just that i'm in it for generating the results and sending them back, and so i'm ever so slightly in a competitive mood. besides, i need to get some more ram to do anything major. *finally learns 64 mb just isn't enough *

8 pentium 3 800s (I think)

the dual athlon DOES pull in 2 work units every 6 hours though

I just like to see my pc live up to it's potential. Rarely do I do anything that requires this kind of processing power, so I like to waste the cycles. The rest of the computers being used are just so that we stand a chance in the game of things(I like watching us climb through the ranks)

We should do a megaflush sometime, when we have a little bit more members and a higher avg a day.

Someone would set up a server, and we all would send the results to that server. Then we'll do that like 2 weeks, or a little longer (a month) and then we flush the server making a huge jump on the ranks

I'm a bit confused about that idea . What would be the point? It's total results that matter, average results a day is worked out by the number of WU/number of days but that's not taken into account with the teams rank.

But Phily, half the point of SETI is to make the people in front of you breathe easy, and the people behind you think 'yarr! stompage imminent!' and then suddenly start dumping WUs as fast as your connection can handle
