I've had a bad day or so but I'm back now.

(Reseated the heatsink yesterday, also it repeatedly failed to post today whilst trying aggressive RAM settings. There is definitely an extra 15 minutes to be found there somewhere...)

/me considers fitting RAMsinks and an active northbridge cooler and OC'ing a little further... or unlocking his XP2000+

Yup but we should do that when we are higher in the ranks... there are many teams who havent run SETI for years still above us, who could care less

I never liked SETI as I always think that my units are going to basically nothing.

I do Folding@home, which looks for cancer cures and stuff.

Yep.

http://folding.stanford.edu/download.html

I use Electron Microscope III to monitor my network machines. 2 XP home, 1 XP Pro, and 1 Linux Mandrake 9.0

WUs take longer to complete then SETI.

Stay down, dammit!

Seriously, I think I'm going to have to withdraw. I had a pretty weak hsf combo to begin with, and now with just over a week of 100% CPU utilization, my system has become very unstable, and very, very hot (50+ degrees celsius, ambient, 66 CPU).

I'm at 66C right now. I can't apply thermal paste to save my life, that much is obvious. I need to back off as well...

depending on how many you upload at once, itcould take a while for all of them to show on the team stat pages, even the personal websites- unless its doing it with your seti client on your computer too, and then its a problem

So that was your problem Herb, glad you got it sorted .

dylman, you really should be able to apply thermal paste pretty easy. Just a tiny bit on the core, take off the horrible crap that comes with the HSF (I wash mine with fairy liquid in hot water then let it dry) and put HSF back on. Heatsinks and fans here!

I need to stop playing Icewind Dale 2. It's slowing me down...

Phily: Fairy liquid? Bah! Isopropyl alcohol is what you want. The fumes are just an added extra.

I'm going to try reapplying the goop one more time, and if that doesn't work then I'm sticking a Delta fan on the fucking thing.

I'm working on keeping my computer online as long as possible. I got booted down to 11th place, rm' has more WU's than I have. And I've gotten a little lazy keeping SETI running on both of my machines.
