I might dedicate a rig to fold for this team in a few weeks. It wont be anything special, maybe an xp2000+, but it should turn in a few points per day.

Had also some problems with two running instances: the new version for some reason got installed next to the other one and both tried to fold. A mess...
But everything is sorted and running again now

Just threw together a P3-650 system which will be folding 24/7 for team winamp.

I'm still planning to build something a bit gruntier for this team though, as the P3 only barely puts out enough points per day to make it worth the power it uses.

howmany frames is average for a WU? And do some take longer than others?

Don't know what's average. Sometimes a WU has 5000 frames, sometimes 125. But the number of frames doesn't tell a lot about the time it will take: a 5000 one can go pretty fast.
The scores you see in the list are not calcuted based on the number of frames, as far as I know. It's more based on the time it takes.

well i have this p1408_Q20x4 in water thing.
And it takes freaking ages. 782/2500 at 1m:26s/frame (and sometimes slower)

Or is that quite normal?

So at this speed my contribution to the winamp team arn't very much.

That's quite normal. For me, it's says the next frame (47/125) will end in 16 minutes (though I'm using my computer now, off course)
Sometimes it takes days to contribute a WU. But the score you'll get will be a lot higher than those little ones.

[edit]
I started folding in July and I contributed 51 WU's. My computer is off at night, but almost always on during the day. So that's the speed you have to be prepared for

(depends on your processor also, off course)

Might be, but i can't keep my pc running 24/7.
I like actually how little I suffer whil running the program. It scales great to the free amount of processor time.

[edit]
after reading siebe's edit.
Ok, so its quite normql qt the speed it goes now. Does it depend on how many molecules the Protein contains?

Dedicated team winamp folding box built:

Abit AN7
Barton 2500+ @ 3200+, lapped stock cooler w/ delta 80mm EHE@5v
512mb pc3200
pci voodoo banshee
1.2gb seagate hd
Antec truecontrol 550w psu

It's just thrown together for the moment, i'll give it a tidy up and a new case in a few days once i've done enough stability testing and reached a higher overclock.

I'll leave my other rigs folding for this team for a few days more, after that i'll probably switch back to my regular team.

this will give you a realistic comparison to other WUs: http://vspx27.stanford.edu/psummary.html it lists all the current folds, latest deadline time, value of fold, and number of views...i after looking at it, its a much better predictor for how long a fold will take rather than that fuzzy math predictor built in.

heh, he came today already, internet is back up again

turned out to be a modem config thingy, he was surprised the helpdesk didn't tell us how to fix it (was quite simple, if you know how to do it)
so this week offline wasn't really necessary, but it's working again

The joys of tech support...

Good to have you back though.

We should crack 100,000 points within a week, and shortly after that we'll be in the top 800 teams, which means we'll have access to individual stats at extremeoverclocking.

Of course i am. I did have to downclock one of my rigs due to the warm weather, and i've been playing NFSU2 a bit recently, so my main rig hasnt been doing as much. I should still be good for ~2000 ppw though.
