More than likely if Sven goes to Real, he will make Beckham captain of them.

How the fuck is it a circle-jerk. Your sports aren't sports at all. The fact that franchises (That they are called franchises and not teams show their true intentions) shift between cities based on revenue projections shows the loyalty and passion in your club's owners.

Things like draft picks mean teams are rewarded for fucking up, and no team can consistently prove their spirit and tenacity by claimning titles in a number of years (Think Liverpool 80's, Man Utd 90's, and seemingly Chelsea 00's).

Things like players getting multi-million dollar contracts for playing maybe 14 games a year (NFL is something like 28 including playoffs, right? And no team member plays more than half a game at most).

Things like having a separte player for punting and kicking. Really, WTF? Half the time they are old rugby players looking for some pension bucks.

And finally, your shitty fans, with no rivalies, no collectove bond, and no imagination judging by their chants of "Let's go _ _, Let's go"

Wow, that'll really burst your team to success. So don't you fucking call football a circle jerk pansy sport, because none of your shitty attempts at organised competition match up to the Premiership.

The fact that we don't needlessly harbor hatred for each other generations on end is exactly what makes us not Europeans.

In fact, nearly everything you've listed:

Fronter toughness, (because I promise you that if the NFL played more often, career lengths would go from averaging 3-4 years to averaging 1 or 2 (and funny you don't mention baseball's 162 game season or the NBA's 82 game seasons))

Genuine individuality and lack of group-think,

are all what makes America not Europe.
Don't like it? Go practice falling down, (I mean it works in soccer right?) I'll be there in a minute.

The Yankees have been in New York since 1903. The World Cup has existed since 1930. oops!

Draft picks ensure that a bad team has a chance to do well in the future. How can you think American sports don't have rivalries.

Again I quote the Yankees: 26 titles. oops!

This is fucking ridiculous:

Yankees-Red Sox
Yankees-Mets
Mets-Braves
Jets-Dolphins
Islanders-Rangers

I'm from New York. We have some of the best chants around.

You want tough guys? Take a look at the NHL. American football kicks the crap out of soccer when it comes to organized plays.

Nonsense. Just because you don't understand the rules or the strategy doesn't mean it's not there.

There's differences in all these sports. I'm not a fan of football (I like to watch ice hockey, other than that I tend to just not care), but a lot of people like to put it down for completely invalid reasons.

TBF, it is a very hard job to be a referee. He (and she sometimes) only has a few seconds to judge and act on what they saw, and really, how accurate do you think a pair of human eyes really are? There are multiple things happening all at the same time which the ref. has got to keep track off. A lot of people think that the fourth official should make video decisions, but really, how would stopping a game which is fast-paced and based on continual play going to cope with being paused every 5 minutes? Not realistic at all. The only thing anyone can do is give the benefit of the doubt the first time round, and if it happens again and there is suspicion of mis-conduct, penalise the player.

I'm British. When I say "football", I mean "football", which is the game Americans call "soccer". When I say "American football", I mean "American football", which is the game Americans call "football".

I love football/soccer. I started playing when I was 8, and then started reffing when I was 14. I'm 21 now and I still play a bit on campus in pickup games, and I still ref for a youth league in town, so I know how hard it is to make quick decisions (even though world titles arn't on the line for me). But seriously, you would think by now they would realize that these are grown, athletic men, who shouldn't fall down every time someone with a different coloured jersey comes near them. I don't let 16 year old get away with it, I don't see why people twice that old can't stay on their feet.

And why hasn't FIFA allowed for a referee using an overhead video to make the offsides calls, instead of the line judges (who have been quick to call offsides this WC, making the scoring low)?

I'm not talking about a guy that would decide after the fact; I don't want instant replay. I am talking about a person who has a real-time video and instead of the referee having to look at a side judge to see if a flag is raised, he hears in his ear instead "offsides" from the man in the booth. It woudl work the same as it does now, but with a better vantage point.

GPS is the way to go. Implant transmitters in the players and the ball.

You could have one computer somewhere in Surbiton controlling the whole Football League nationwide

Make it a subscription service and you're quids in.

[additional]

On second thoughts I say NO, I've just had this vision of a world where there are no offside decisions to bitch about after the game
