if we are given the chance to use 100x50 avatar, i might use either:
  • the Back to the Future one that Luigi made
  • encode the string "alex_gamer was here" (or just "alex_gamer" if that doesn't fit...)
  • or the Rorschach inkblot style of my current one that skry did.

the computer is never at fault for an error; a human is, though.

I don't remember if I've posted these yet, and I'm too lazy to reread through the whole thread.

I don't think I saw this one before, it's fuckin great.

Now if we could only get new avatar parameters......

I just think it sucks that any format changes rest on one persons shoulders.

Go read a book without pictures

100 by 50 pixels isn't too bad, but 100 by 100 pixels would be better. It's really hard trying to down size a picture to 50 by 50 pixels while still trying to make it look good.

I think 100x50 is sufficient. Avatars in other forums are needlessly oversized. Last.fm is one of the worst @ 160x160. The point here is the area to the right of our avatars goes to waste, whereas adding extra height to them just means extra scrolling which we don't need.

If extra scrolling is such a big issue why not get rid of signatures and in its place we should get more height for our avatars. What would be better is if it were possible to get rid of the baby poo green that borders the forum. If that were removed it would really cut down on the excess scrolling.

What would be better is to finally leave the 20th century behind and make the forum layout variable width.

I'm not a noob, I'm a Senior Member.

Anyways I'm not trying to criticize, I'm just telling you my opinion, and in my opinion the forum would be better if it were a variable width layout like gaekwad said in his post.

Hey hey now. Let's not derail this thread with arguments. This is my thread and we are here to discuss 100x50 Avatars, nothing more nothing less. Variable width blahbity blahs can be discussed in another thread.

A common size on many forums seems to be 80x80. The largest I've seen is 120x120. I would suggest the common 80x80 size if that's what this is all about.

void BlueWater() {water.color=blue; while(GameRunning) {if (fox.pos == InBlueWater) {fox.air--; FoxDrown(fox.air);} else {fox.air=1800; fox.flags = WantsToGetWet; } WaitFrames(1); }} // My top favorite thing in 2D Sonic (as C)

I kinda like things thin here since I can have my forum window off to the side of the screen and still other windows on the other side, without having to use a separate monitor. Besides, text is easier to read when it's in a thinner column (just like in newspapers/magazines). So far, the baisc layout here is pretty good if someone were to want my opinion.

However this has nothing to do with 100x50 avatars. If they become a reality, I might actually make one for myself, but if not, I won't lose any sleep over it.
