problems with skins

I am not sure what is wrong! i download a new skin and unzip it but it will not let me install it, i can open the files but i dont have an option to install can anyone help ?

don't unzip them.

you are probably using powerarchiver and it has taken the automatic skin install away.

you need to remove *.wsz and *.wal from what powerarchiver can open.

you could also just put the skins in your /winamp/skins folder then manually change winamp's skin via the right click menu.

the skins folder is usually found c:\program files\winamp\skins.

I am also having the same problem. After downloading the .zip file, I unzip it using WinZip, and put all the files in a folder within the Skins folder, but WinAmp5.3 does not pick it up. I also unzipped the file using WindowsXP's own extracter. Same result. Is there a help file that shows the step by step on how to install a skin?

Oops! Never mind. I just realized that the lite version does not support modern skins, which is what I downloaded. Sorry.

As Rocker mentioned, Winamp skin files usually should have the extension WSZ (for classic) or WAL (for modern). Upon downloading, they should automatically install to Winamp as a single. There should be no need to unzip a Winamp skin.

Do you have Win XP with SP2 and/or Microsoft Internet Explorer SP2? If that is the case, Internet Explorer has a tendency to download skin files as ZIP instead of WAL or WSZ. In such a event, the skin file will go to a zip folder or an (un)archiver instead of Winamp.
