You love pop music!

I think all of us have what I refer to as "guilty pleasures" when it comes to music. You know, those songs you like but would never admit to liking in front of any of your friends.

My personal tastes run far and wide. Some of the artists I like are Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, Ani Difranco, Spearhead, Stevie Wonder, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, DJ Shadow, Frank Zappa, Miles Davis. A diverse group, certainly, and in my musical snobishness I consider them all "serious" artists.

But with the advent of .mp3s and file sharing technology one can now own all that crappy, catchy, can't-get-it-out-of-my-head pop magic that you hear everywhere because it costs nothing.

So if your .mp3 collection consists of mostly of Henry Rollins spoken word stuff, or Cowboy Junkies songs to listen to when you're drunk and depressed, but you've got a hidden folder of Spice Girls songs somewhere on your hard drive, admit it here. Tell us what you normally like, then let loose with the "guilty pleasures."

I'll start. I already gave an idea of my normal listening tastes. Here's some of the songs found in a folder I call "Bubblegum:"

Avril Lavigne - Complicated
Josie & The Pussycats - Three Small Words
Len - Steal My Sunshine
Michelle Branch - Everywhere
Nelly Furtado - I'm Like A Bird
Sheryl Crow - Soak Up The Sun

Shame, shame, shame on me.

BTW, some of what I consider bubblegum may not be to you. I don't want a debate. I just want to know what yours are (tell me what you want, what you really, really want).

Like I've said a million times, I'll listen to anything that sounds good to me. Naturally some pop is included in that net. Here are some of mine:

Deep Blue Something - Breakfast At Tiffany's
Supermen Lovers - Starlight
A-Ha - Take On Me
Dead Or Alive - You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)
Eiffel 65 - Blue
Gary Numan - Cars
Gary Numan - Are Friends Electric?
Madness - Our House
Loads of Michael Jackson
Phats & Small - Turn Around
Blondie - Atomic
Wamdue Project - King Of My Castle
Grace - Not Over Yet (Original 1996)
Babylon Zoo - Spaceman (on tape single)
Aurora feat Naimee Coleman - Ordinary World

No real cheesy pop, but they're not proper bands either, so I consider them pop.

The First 2 songs Michelle Branch put out recently are hidden somewhere. Eminem puts something good out every once in a while and i've got those. I'd easily tell you guys, just no one at school, but i really love Radiohead. I have all of their albums. And usually whenever a half and half popstar comes out i listen to a few of theirs songs too. (Half and Half: Half talented, Half poppy teenybobber...)

If by pop music you mean by most of the stuff they play on MTV these days, then I hate all of it. The only modern music I like is a few alternative rock bands; Red Hot Chili Peppers, System Of A Down, Tool... I used to have Destiny's Child Survivor album on my PC but I recently deleted the whole thing. I also have Madonna's Music album which totally sucks. I never got around to deleting that. And another thing I am ashamed to have on my PC is part of the Barenaked Ladies Stunt album.

Most of the stuff I really really really like is from before 1994. Favorite bands:

AC/DC
Aerosmith
Alice Cooper
Alice In Chains
Beastie Boys
Bon Jovi
Deep Purple
DJ Mike Llama
Guns n' Roses
Joe Satriani
Led Zeppelin
Metallica
Mötley Crüe
Nirvana
Ozzy Osbourne
Pink Floyd
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Rolling Stones
Smashing Pumpkins
Stone Temple Pilots
The Beatles
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
U2
Van Halen

wrong, i DID love pop music. As I stated before, pop music irritates me and quite frankly, most English music + American pop is shit nowdays anyway.

R&B, Rock, Greek Dance, Greek Modern Laika, soft music etc is what i like nowadays.

I can honestly say that I havent heard the radio in nearly a year and i dont watch tv for any music so i would have a hard job telling you a few current 'good' pop groups / singers.

Michelle Branch IS the best english music singer...
