From 1.9 to 2.0 = no sucess story

I am using shoutcast 1.9 for long time without problem.
I am trying the version 2.0 without sucess.
After installation in 1.9 I only had to change the config file sc_serv
Now, I see many similar files.
Which one do I have to change?
I have Windows 2003 Server.
Any help will be appreciated.

as i've already said in the other thread you had about setting things up:
Quote:
if you already had a working v1 system and are running the station, then you should be able to re-use the existing config file for the v1 DNAS without issue with the v2 DNAS (it's all backwards compatible).
(taken from http://forums.winamp.com/showpost.ph...47&postcount=6).

however, there are some quirks with doing that (which have been brought to my attention in the 3months since your last post) so either you need to explicitly add streamid=1 to your existing config file or wait for the next v2 DNAS release which should make things a lot simpler to get going especially when working from an existing config file (though there's no eta on when it'll be finished as it's dependent upon YP changes to be finished and deployed).

Thanks for your fast reply.
I am talking about the Server, where I had about 10 customers with the shoucast 1.9 with one folder to each streaming, like 8001, 8002, etc.

I created a new folder 8086 and installed the shoucast 2.0, but it does not work.
I really don't know what files I would have to change.
Thanks again.

what doesn't work? as with your prior posts you've not been too forth coming with information.

all i can say is that you need to tell the DNAS what config file to use (as per the docs for the platform version you're using) as it won't automatically use sc_serv.ini or sc_serv.conf like the v1 DNAS did as such.

though i think it might be easier for you to wait for the next v2 drop before trying to update your existing setup since as long as it's told the correct config file to use (barring any issues which i've found since the last public release), it should be able to be directly swapped into place with the v1 DNAS and then it just needs an authhash obtained for the streams (there is some issues with that handling).

indeed, but a Doctor needs to know the symptoms to prescribe the right medicine

See how I took your allegory and so neatly related it to DrO's post ...

i.e. saying "it does not work", don't expect more than "you need a solution"

"If you don't like DNAS, write your own damn system"

So I did

jaromanda: Here is my health problem:
Shoucast 1.9 provided a config file sc_serv, the only one I needed to change after installing the application in a particular folder. There I put the port, password and number of users.

Shoutcast 2 came with 7 similar files that only you the experts know what to do with them.
The elementary students like me, go to the limbo and stay there, until you come to the rescue.

I know many friends with Servers like me, that continues using the old 1.9 because they could not put the 2.0 to work.

You assume too much, I do not know what the 7 files are, nor do I need to

It's unfortunate that people are having so much trouble reading documentation

As DrO said (twice already!!!)

Quote:

so, bitching about the fact that you can't understand the 7 config examples that come with v2 is irrelevant and retarded. You don't NEED THEM AT ALL

so ... take your working v1 config file and use it in v2

if you are having a problem getting v2 to work with the v1 config file ... rather than say "it doesn't work, derpa derpa", try explaining what isn't working, check out the log files, see if you can supply ACTUAL symptoms

"If you don't like DNAS, write your own damn system"

So I did
