Mayonnaise: the devil?

Is mayonnaise, in your opinion, the devil? Hmm?

O.K. then Huge, now what you got against mayonaise.

Apart from never being sure how to spell it, seems perfectly wholesome to me.

Actually now that I think about it, Not sure if all of you know of "Subway" but I used to work for them... The amount of Mayo in the "seafood" mix for sandwiches is.... Don't. Ever. Get it.

Subway invaded our shores many years ago.

Cheese is more of the devil than mayonnaise or salad cream.
I could eat a good cheddar continuously which would probably lead to blocked arteries etc in next to no time.

I'm with you on this jaz. The mere thought of mayo makes me sick. How can anybody eat that demonic crap?

Back when I worked at Subway, I used to stop and stare at people who asked for mayo on their tuna sandwich. If they had any idea how much we already mixed in with the tuna they would never order it.

This is a sig of some nature.

I know! But the thing is, they really have no clue.... Just thinking about it now... And how bread comes to the stores, everything really. Those arent sandwiches they make... They are just death buns filled with plague.

Yeah, the entire company thrives off of lies. Once you add sauce and cheese, a $5 footlong is no healthier than a Big Mac. Add chips and a drink and you have a 1500+ calorie meal that is loaded with fat and sodium. Moreover, none of it is as fresh as they claim (protip: don't ever order a breakfast sub there).

Subway is nothing more than just another fast food joint.

This is a sig of some nature.

I actually do order for extra heapings of extra mayo on my Subway tuna sandwiches. They never put enough into the tuna, it's always too dry for me.

I'm a mayo lover! I won't ever eat it straight but sometimes I feel as though food becomes nothing more than a carrier for all the mayo I consume.

I'll slather mayo on:
  • Cold pizza
  • All sandwiches I think
  • Most if not all vegetables.

I think just about the only things I don't put mayo on is foreign style foods (like tacos, enchiladas, poncet(probably misspelled), others) and candy or other sweet pastries, and steaks, ham, other stand-alone meat portions, and french fries. I also don't let mayo go anywhere near my breakfast.

I hate miracle whip. That putrid white wanna-be garbage always grosses me out. It tastes funny and doesn't have a bearable consistency.

I make a mighty fine steak sauce out of Mayo Garlic Plus seasoning and usually a touch of seasoning salt... Add some freshly crushed up garlic and BAM! Steak sauce, shit is delicious.

If you do not have mayo use salad dressings, ceaser or ranch preferred.

^This. I almost want to say that I prefer the dressings for a tuna sandwich mix. It's quite good, making it also does not remind me of the shit job I had with subway. So it's win win.

Mmm, tuna sandwich. Packet of starkist white albacore tuna, teaspoon and a half of sweet relish, a tablespoon of good mayo and some pepper. Makes two tasty sandwiches.

I am intrigued by this Subway talk... over here at least, most of the sub's have calories written next to them, I think it's a law or something over here with regards to nutrition? (I'm really not sure, I just know calories of things are often around).

Caesar salad dressing, I will agree, is delicious <3

It's a law here as well but the info is not readily available. You'd have to go to their site to check it.

Ahh thanks for that mike

Here some places put the calories on the boards/menus, subway here also has a few 'low fat' subs which I imagine assumes people don't add mayonnaise

Here's a fun thing though- http://www.subway.co.uk/assets/pdf/S...0Values_v3.pdf

Some are marked 'reformed meat'

Subway can be a "healthly" meal if you do not include cheese, sauces, or most of their specialty meats.

Fine...

I preferred Miracle Whip while living in the States, which is not available here in Oz.

And if we're going to talk about salad dressings, I like French and Thousand Island. Ranch dressing here sucks.

I disagree. Subway would be a healthy meal if you did not include any of their breads (and soda or chips if you order any of their meal deal thingies whatever-they-call-'ems.)

I hate when people put mayo or miracle whip on my sandwiches or burgers. I can't stand it, and it's not something you can just pick up and toss away.

That said, somehow I like tuna salad and ham salad on a sandwich.

There are three main subs I like to get at subway:

Italian BMT. Wheat or white, Pepper-jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, banana peppers, olives, mayo, mustard
Sub club, same ingredients as above.
Philly cheese steak. Wheat or white. Double provolone, lettuce, banana peppers, olives, bell pepper, ranch dressing, mustard.

Best breakfast sub is the sunrise subway melt. Wheat or white. Pepper-jack, lettuce, tomato, olives, onion, bell pepper, ranch dressing, mustard.

Mustard is only good if you make it yourself out of actual mustard powder and a little water and mix it to a paste. That's real mustard. Most people can't handle it though because of how spicy hot it is.
