Beta Builds

Guess what? A topic that's not about Winamp dying or AOL bashing! OMFG!

Sorry. Anyway, are the beta builds of new Winamp versions closed beta's, or can you download them somewhere? And if they are closed Beta's, how do you join the beta team?

Sorry, but the beta builds are closed to all others but the beta team, and the beta team email list is closed as well. No more beta testers are being added AFAIK and the beta team is pretty much a wrap. Last to join was DrO, mainly due to his work on the JTFE plugin, and when 5.06 is finally released (don't ask when), it will be packaged with a newer bug-free and enhanced version of JTFE. David Biderman is now compiling all builds, since most if not all other devs have left. According to Egg though, Francis, Christophe and Justin are still advising David re: bugfixes.

Don't email or PM me concerning Winamp. Instead, either start a NEW TOPIC or post a REPLY in the appropriate thread in these forums. This will also benefit others who may have a similar question or problem. But before posting, please first Search the forums and read all FAQs and all Sticky threads.

Damn. I'm going completely off-topic now, but does anyone know of any sites where you can download beta builds of various software?

as Nunzio points out, the betalist is closed and it's on an invite only basis (for those who the existing team/dev's feel are appropriate to be added to it)

Yeah, boycott betanews

I went off them a while back anyway, when they started using ad servers known for spyware cookies (vibrantmedia, versiontracker, adtech, doubleclick, etc).

Hmm. One question. Once (after the release of 5.04) someone told that Nullsoft worked on AAC+ support for shoutcast streams to please the people at HA.

What happened to this work. Was that abandoned due to the exodus of all developers?

CAn someone comment on this?

Eric... you were added to the list after Darren? I didn't realize that.

I can't stand people who think that open source is always better than closed source (mainly referring to the betabuids people).

Just providing the hosting for Winamp would be a headache, not to mention all the licensing costs.

DrO sorry to go offtopic here but what about Extended Playlist?

as for the topic I am starting to miss new winamp versions, starting to remember the dark winamp3 v1.xx (that should be 0.10) days.

NOTE: I am Dextro!
