Final Destination 3

It's fun how you can change the storyline around a bit in certain parts of the film; it's a slightly different movie everytime I watch it. Props to the creators of the DVD for coming up with this amusing format.

This is a sig of some nature.

I watched two this weekend:

Broken Trail...

Excellent!
I've always thought Robert Duvall is one of the best actors.
My favorite movie of all is Lonesome Dove.
Broken Trail is just as good, at 3 hours long on 2 discs.
I found myself on the edge of my chair towards the end,
because I didn't have a clue what was going to happen.
Great story, great acting by everyone, and great scenery.
Well worth the time if you like westerns.

Lucky Number Slevin...

Another good one.
The ending surprised me a little, which I like in a movie, but it made sense.
This one is worth seeing also.

Just watched Constant Gardener. I thought initially that it would be one of those cheesy dramas that you get to see on TV. instead it turned out to be a really great viewing experience for me. I was hooked on the story all the way to the end. I think it shows us what really happens behind these giant multinational companies.

^saw that at the theatre when I was a little kid (big).

Last movie I saw was Blade III - a friend gave it to me. Good music/soundtrack, although the storyline/plot was rather lame. I'd reccommend the first of the three over the others.

Wedding Crashers (all this time passed and I finally saw it...)

People said I'd find it hilarious, but it seemed only slightly funny at best to me - over-hyped and overrated. Much funnier movies exist. I'm glad I waited until it was a cheap rental rather than seeing it at an expensive theatre.

Closer, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

I'd seen Eternal Sunshine before, but remembered liking it more. The biggest problem I had with both is that I didn't care about any of the characters. To quote Mark Twain, "The test of any good fiction is that you should care something for the characters; the good to succeed, the bad to fail. The trouble with most fiction is that you want them all to land in hell, together, as quickly as possible."

Barry Lyndon (on HDNet) A opportunist in the 1700s tries to achieve the lush life. It didn't look like a movie that I'd be interested in, but director Stanley Kubrick does a great job with the cinematography.

Ocean's 12...

Holy shit did that movie suck...

Take my advice, if you didn't see it already, be happy - it was a total waste of time - all those huge name actors, and yet, no plot, no action, no laughs, no thought.

I'm glad it was a free library rental - I'd be really pissed if I rented it from a store, and even more pissed if I had bought it or gone to the theatre to see it.

Man of the House

Lots of really hot ladies and an old familiar dude actor. Plot kinda suked but the ladies where fucking hot as hell. Hit mute and just keep watching it anyway - maybe throw on some decent music or something while watching and you'll be set.

Phantom of the Opera (the latest version, 2004) - just started, currently watching. Little word of advice, in the extremely quiet opening part, don't turn your receiver up a ton to hear it, otherwise, when the music kicks in you'll break a bunch of windows and spill your drinks. It really does a great job of demonstrating a DVD's ability to have a very wide dynamic range.

Phantom of the Opera was good, except there were times in the movie when they tried using electronic music in place of the standard acoustic music (pipe organ, orchestra, etc.). That wouldn't be so bad, but the electronic music sounded like it came from a 3 octave Casio keyboard from the 1980s - cheesy, corny, ghey, tasteless, tacky, cheap, shitty, etc. That kinda ruined the movie for me, although since it didn’t last for incredibly long, I was at least able to enjoy the rest of the movie.

Blood Diamond - I don't know what all the hype is about. It's a so-so movie that does show the tragedy surrounding conflict diamonds and why they're illegal.

Rocky Balboa - I laughed when I heard they were making this movie but it was really touching, especially when you're older and feel like you've lost your game.

The Departed - Martin Scorcese does it again with this tension filled betray-fest of a movie. Jack Nicholson can play pure evil like no other and now, I hate Matt Damon even more. The only downfall of this movie is having to listen to that stinking Boston accent for over 2 hours.
