video management software

I'm looking for some software that will allow me to keep track of my growing video collection. Almost entirely flv files saved off youtube etc. I'd like a way to associate metadata tags wit the files and search them in the database. So I can find all videos tagged "funny", for example. It doesn't have to play the files as long as I can load them with VLC or something.

Anyone know of anything like this? The fact that the files are video files also doesn't matter really, if it worked with every file type that would be great.

Any ideas?

Run a local server with lighttpd, php and install wordpress.

Install php and lighttpd

Anarchy Media Player is a plugin for wordpress that will embed players for WMP, flash, MP3, Divx and I think quicktime any place you put a media file url in a post. It will also simply embed players from most of the web video sites... revver, youtube, google video etc. without the file being in your local collection.

You'd have to write a post for all your media files, but wordpress would take care of categories and the players.

An advantage is that you can also serve the files across your lan.
