10 Years

Well, today's the day. I've now been here for 10 years. (And actually, I joined several years prior, but for the life of me I will never remember what my username was at that time)

Thanks to all of the long-time members. Some of you are like family to me and have seen me go through all manner of significant life events.

While these forums aren't the active community they once were, I still check in every few days.

Have some cake on me!

Something you can be proud of k_rock, a long and distinguished record

So where did it all go, I ask myself.

Had to check, and I've just slipped past 12 years and 6000 posts myself, that's one post every 5 secs. if I have the Maths right

Can't remember why I joined either, something to do with CDs I expect, they were all the rage at the time ... or converting WAVs to MP3s. Still waiting for an answer on that BTW.

Interestingly, I don't think I've actually used Winamp since the days of Winamp 3.

Welcome to the club. If you don't mind me asking: how old are you now? I was 14 when I joined, now I'll be 25 in August. I never imagined this place would still be around after all this time, yet here we are today. You guys are like my second family, and I don't even know most of your names!

Heh, I stopped using it too shortly after 5 came out. I hated the Bento skin and how bloated the software came. Except when I'm DJing, I stream all my music so now I don't even use a music player anymore.

That's something I liked about Pabook – I knew everyone's real names. The same is true of many WAF old timers, but not many more than were part of the 'munity mutiny.

I'm looking at you, Paul, Donna, Will, Daniel, Sammy, Andrew, Arin, Andrew, Andy, Andy, Becky, John, John, Alice, Duncan, Dré, Bill, Ken and everyone else. YES, there were/are that many Andys.

The only real names I know are Sarge's and Mia's (the latter of which who hasn't posted in what, four years now?) Ryan & Ted don't count for obvious reasons. None of y'all know my name 'cause I'm quite certain I've never said it... and it's gonna stay that way.

What happened to Pabook anyway? I used to drop by every once and awhile then one day it just wasn't there anymore. Remember when we all thought it would outlive this place?

This is a sig of some nature.

What is your real name

I know a few real names, mostly people who were on pabook and people i mail with outside of the forums.

Can't wait to catch up with Baz when he arrives down under next week, after first meeting him in London last year.

His fellow Irishman, Mike / "..--.-..----.", was our guest for a couple of days only a few weeks ago.

Awesome people come from WAF/Pabook.

Should I ever find myself in Australia, I would definitely try to look up you and Shy.

That being said, I still never met Widdy and for a long time, she pretty much lived down the block.

Widdy very kindly offered to show me around NY back in the day, but I never managed to get over that side of the country, so could never take up her offer. Some day...

I've been quite inactive lately, but that's pretty normal for me during summers. I'm not indoors much or near any online devices during the summer. I come in to prep food and use the restroom/shower, or sleep if there is lightning. Otherwise I'm in a tent at night or cutting firewood or other outside work. Every once in a while, like now, I check stuff online.

I've seen some pretty interesting revivals here this summer - Bop, Ryan, Tuckerm, SSJ4, Smeggle, etc. Good to know you're all in good spirits. I hope this place is still around when I hit 10 years.

Congrats KR, you've been a very helpful person here while being likable by pretty much everyone here.

Scary people, aren't we UJ?

Just had dinner and a few drinks with Bazman63 and Slynqy of WAF/Pabook along with a few other IRL friends. Will do likewise tomorrow, with ShyShy and ShyShy Jr along as well. Good times.

She has... to a few of us.

-----------------

Bazman63 (http://forums.winamp.com/member.php?u=126778) has a travelling blog: http://bazman63.wordpress.com

In exchange for a few hot meals, a few cold drinks and the use of a bathroom, Baz knocked up a feature wall feature... thing... in my Mum's house. I helped by handing him tools, hardware and cups of tea.

He's now somewhere near Winton - y'know, where all the dinosaur bones are? Lucky sod.

First I must apologize. I had simply overlooked this thread. But 1 day ago, on 13th July, I had lost the internet connection on my PC, and after many rebootings suddenly it wasn't possible anymore to start my PC. It had to be brought to the service shop, and I had to use Frank's PC for some days. Maybe that was the reason, why I didn't see this thread...
But now: happy anniversary to you later, k_rock923, and all the best for the next 10 years. Then we'll see you at the next anniversary "20 years"...

Scarily I've been here for 13 years and even remember the pre-VB days when I used to lurk.
I used to be called Phily Baby back in the day before I changed it.

Same here, or rather, I remember that "Phily Baby" sticks out while "fwgx" is unrecognized by my memory.

Hi Phily, good to see you're still on you feet

I could never keep track of who was who, even back in the day.

There was a character by the name of Heuheutenango I remember, who either changed his name or drifted away.

And pappadoc, what became of pappadoc ?
