Library Management with Winamp

I'm curious if Winamp has a feature to restructure/rename files and folders according to it's tagging system? If not are there any programs that will do this? Thanks.

In fact, there is a plugin which can rename your files without losing ratings or playcounts:

Media Library Organizer

Windows 7
Winamp 5.58

Hey Bryann!

please check out the Tutorial I just posted. I spent a lot of time on it and hope it helps you somehow.

Its about MP3 Tagging, Ripping, Adding Album Art [embedded], analyzing the BPM and adding key info.

Maybe you can get some ideas from it. I also talk about using MP3 Tag [the program.]

Thanks a lot!!

Library Management plugin

I am the prodigal son, returning to Winamp after a foray into iTunes.

The thing that was good about iTunes was the library management features. I want the same for Winamp.

Searching for library management got me the thread shown here. The link for Media Library Organizer is blank.

Is there a plugin or feature I can't find that moves media files as needed for digital music?

Thanks,

BannonB

Hi bannonb,

Are you looking for the Media Library Organizer plug-in? Link below. I've never used it, so don't know how well it works.

Good luck.

if i was going to rename files or folders based on tags, i'd use mp3tag for that.

It seems Mp3tag uses the same format string as Picard and I've seen it in MediaMonkey too.

This is the default string in Mp3tag: %artist% - %album% - $num(%track%,2) - %title%

This is the string I'm currently using in Picard:

$if($gt(%totaldiscs%,1),%discnumber%,)$num(%tracknumber%,2) - $if(%compilation%,%artist% - ,)%title%

This outputs "01 - Title.mp3" for single disc albums, "101 - Title.mp3" for multi disc albums, and "01 - Artist - Title.mp3" for multi-artist albums.

I would suggest you find a system that honours that format. I believe it was developed by the Foobar2000 developers.

this is a generalization, but i have my rips set to output this for normal albums by a single artist:

..\artist\album\artist - ## - title.mp3

and this way if its a comp:

..\albumartist\album\album - ## - trackartist - title.mp3
