ive had staff rating.. but no staff review!!

how can they rate if they dont review??? they dont comment.. no comment means perfect.. so why do they give 4 stars all over and not 5 then???
please clear the blurred areas for me please.. am bit gutted by the 4 stars.. coz there are many skins that have skinner traces and also get 4

i think the woodshop deserves defo 5 stars for originality!! but then again, am not winamp reviewing team

and why are all the fields of the staff rating all same amount of stars on every skin? always 4 stars.. or on all fields 3½ its a bit fishy..

i think they now only reflect the number of stars the skin already had.. and they will be altering them when they go through the database.. well.. i hope this is the fact...

well.. i hope it would stop the bombers and flamers in the reviews!!!

It's the first step towards the overhaul of the review system, consider this the first brick in the wall, more good stuff coming soon.

I AM JUST SOOOOOO estatic that something at least something was done!

I dont care if most of my skins rated 3.5 - 4 stars, im just happy as hell something is changing that means things are pointing up....now all they have to do is sort the skins by overall staff reviews...

I don't have an answer for that.

All I know, is this is the first step towards review panels, seperate staff/public reviews etc etc , the exact details still to be hammered out, but based in part on the massive review panel document that this forum put together several weeks ago.

Just be patient, don't let the bombers bait you and it'll all come good

now the staff review equals the rating the skin already had by the public.. and we all know thos eare not fair.. so i hope some review panel will alter those.. when there are good rules on how to judge skins...

Maybe they will sort skins by Panel review instead of public review....You'll have 2 sets of ratings....

One can be the "peoples" skin, the other the "panels" skin...

Looks like the first step is a more comprehensive staff review with seperate ratings for different parts of the doohicky.

Now I am guessing (100% accuratley I imagine) that the way they saved themselves 8 months work re-rating every single thing in the DB was to take the single star rating and copy it to each of the sub ratings. Voila.

As to the suggested drop all your skins to get them re-rated when the new system goes live.

um are you stupid???

We all know how slow the system is, imagine how much slower it would be if you all submit all your skins again!

Wait until the new system is finished, and bugs are ironed out and see if the submission process speeds up. If it totally fixes everything and the system goes like shit off a shovel then re-submit if you really really really need the ego boost. But until then you'll only make things worse.

Can you read?

The staff ratings have been changed so they rate on several sub cats producing an overall in the process I guess.

Now rather than have the staff redo all the staff ratings then the existing rated skins have had their staff subratings created by copying the previous one staff rating.

Nothing to do with all the crappy user reviews (the bomber reviews).

Now if you think the staff ratings are crappy I guess it's tough luck, they didn't like your skin.

You don't build a house in a day, your asking for everything at once, let the system get put in place as Mike said, let the bugs get ironed out.

I've been working on similar network upgrades, server upgrades, database upgrades at work on a specific project for over two years now, things take time, try something, run it, see if it works, if it works then move onto step two etc etc.

mike said they wont look at already submitted skins and they took the orriginal staff reviews [if i ever got one] so.. am only asking for some light.. coz its still unclear to me...

Hello, I'm a new Winamp skinner and I finally got my first skin submitted. However, it is now available for download yet I recieved nothing for a staff review. Does the staff review come later? It would be helpful to recieve some feedback so I know where to start on my revisions.

The thing is that I only used a program to get me started. I spent days on it refining and editting tons of aspects on it.

Only days? that's quite minimal. On a good skin, weeks and months are spend to get it just perfect. Some skins are never really done, there are always improvements that could be made.

As for Generated skins, If it takes 5 seconds to create them, it should not take any longer to rate them.

I think that there must be a People's rate, and a Rewievers Rate...
A skin of mine(luckily) got 4,5 stars and because of 2 reviews it was lowered to 3...we can't talk about tastes but, we can separate the people's taste from the skinners or reviewewrs test...
