SSBM

Super Smash Bros. Melee... I've yet to play this game, but I've heard from a few people that it's a blast. Also, I "acquired" the soundtrack to it, and some of the tracks actually quite impressed me. I think I'm going to pick up a copy and give it a spin soon.

What does everyone else think about it?

It's not THAT much different from just Super Smash Brothers, the regular one. Or at least that I could tell.

It is a good game, but for me, it's not something I can play for over half an hour without hating my Gamecube.

You should at least rent it and try it for yourself though.

I never played the original SSB, either. Oh well.

I saw some screenshots of SSBM last night, and I'll say that I'm impressed. And why does it make you hate your GameCube if you play it for long periods?

It's only that game. It can get old and annoying fast IMO.

its good fun. can be a wee bit annoying on your own after a while (but only if you constantly play it), but its always fun for multiplayer.

Well, I was a little bit skeptical about picking up a copy of SSBM... but I found a good used copy for half off, so I picked it up anyways. Way I see it, ya can't go wrong for half off.

Friends people, get some

With 4 people or more (alternating, duh), the game is a real blast. Melee has been the party game of choice in my group for close to two years now.

Single player is really a throw away. The break a targets and homerun contests are okay for a bit. Same for the All-Star and Event modes. Multiplayer though, that's where it is at.

It's a great game. I'm surprised you haven't had this one for a while Sarge, and even more surprised that you've never played the original.

What can I say? I live a semi-sheltered life.

And besides. I was too engrossed in Metroid Prime last year and the last part of 2002 to worry much about anything else. I guess I never picked it up when it came out because it just didn't look good to me at the time. Also, I didn't get my Cube when it first came out. I got it about a year afterwards. That's why my Cube collection isn't as big as it probably could be right now. And I didn't get the original SSB since I was going through a rough financial time back then.
