Never try this at home.....

Never believe the name the color on a box of hair coloring. I was under the impression that dark auburn brown was going to give me dark auburn brown to cover my gray hair....I now have dark brown hair in the back and the part which was gray is now a startling dark raspberry....off to wash my hair again...

Well at least it has not hit orange yet. I personally don't mind the silver streaks on both sides of my head. Then again, at my age some hair is better than the alternative.
Welcome.

I am so important I feel the need to let it be known like a liberal discovering the internets for the first time. Uh hur hur hur. I also wash myself with a rag on a stick.

I once dyed my hair "red" (which really was orange... long story). Eventually I got sick of it and decided to change it back to black (natural hair color). Instead it turned dark, dark, blue, but not black.

This is a sig of some nature.

Try blond next time maybe you'll get brown.

So, Widdy. . . I have black hair that gets really curly, especially in this humid weather. Judging from my latest entry into the picture thread, how would it look with blond highlights? I tried to do blue one time, but my hair is too dark to notice it. What would I do if I wanted to make part of my hair blue? Bleach it first?

Yep! For black hair to "accept" color, you may have to strip it first. A Double Process. Or, they make "spray on" and I'll go see what's out there and be back!
You must go past the orange stage of stripping..so use 40 per cent bleach...
