Help! I let Itunes on to my PC!

Hi

After years of stubbornly not being drawn into the new religion of "Apple", I stupidly downloaded Itunes and from probably not fully realizing what it was going to do I have destroyed my nicely organized media library. It has taken some songs from some albums and put into new folders, moved whole albums but doesn’t recognize the whole album on its own player!?!, and exploded every single compilation album into single artists……plus probably more things that I haven’t found out yet.
To top it all it doesn’t have an Undo or check button!
Is there a way in Winamp (that I have used for years, great fantastic Winamp) to reorganize my media library to put everything back together again?
Or should I unplug the computer lock the office door and walk away….

Winamp can help you put the albums back together and identify the mess iTunes has made, but you will have to do the hard work of moving files around.

I have often cleaned up iTunes folders salvaged from a hard disk by using Winamp to put an album together again. The main thing I use is to add an extra column to the Winamp Library View of "File Path". Then I can see where an album has been scattered to.

Most of the problems are in the "compilation album" folders. So not as bad as it initially looks.

Cheers, anything is better than having manually do it all. I'll hopefully give it a go at the weekend.

itunes has an option in it, that can be turned off, to "reorganize" your files, and "import" them and so on...

i have seen itunes do terrible things, so i don't use it. but these bad default behaviors can be deactivated.

as BP noted, you can use filepath to see where things got sent, and then if you have proper tags, sort by albumartist, highlight the scattered tracks on an album in ML, right click, explore item folder, and then cut all the results and paste into one folder.

BUG #1 = Winamp skips short tracks
Wish #1 = Multiple Column Sorting
Wish #2 = Add TCMP/Compilation editing
