Question about metadata and media library

When I open a mp3 file in Winamp and edit its metadata, it gets automatically added into my media library. Is there a way to prevent this from happening?

It does this with files that are NOT in my watch folder settings, the "Automatically add played files" box is unchecked, and the "Rescan now" option does not remove the files.

My way around this was to put new files in a temp area, edit them, then move them to wherever they were going and on a rescan the remove missing files option got them out of the ML.
