Need a bit of help

so we just had our annual stupidity session in Ireland and picked this as our hopefull winning entry in the Eurosong contest this year

[if you don't know - don't ask]

So the winning entry is this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJLOp1WBD0Q

but what is annoying the feck out of me is I know the tune - it is a blatant rip of something else but just can't for the life of me think of it....

Anyone reconise it?[listen closely to the chorus - should give it away]....

btw Hi all

The music in the chorus is indeed taken from a song popular in the 80's. Maybe the key was changed a little, but it is still there.

I know the 80's song and can play it in my head, but have no clue of the name. Luckily my wife is a total 80's junkie. I'll have her listen to it and see if she can ID it.

It's almost the same riff as The Bangles- Hero Takes a Fall but I don't think it's an exact rip.... or we could give em the benefit of the doubt.

At any rate, it's generic bitch band fare which if well done is cool... Joan Jett, Cindy Lauper, Benatar and The Bangles pretty much have that covered though...

I'm very happy for my mental health that I can't place exactly which crappy pop song it blatantly rips off. It's a very common chord progression, nothing imaginative about it all all. And the production is definitely 25 years or so around the bend. Ireland should be able to do better than this.

"Which is worse, ignorance or indifference?"

Thanks guys - its driving me nutty cause I know the music. As you say watadoo its a common enough chord progression ..

My apologies for offending peoples ears

btw - it was supposedly composed by these guys - Niall Mooney, Jonas Gladnikoff, Daniele Moretti and Christina Schilling and essentially was done via contact online....
