Somethings wrong with 'playlists.xml' in Winamp\Plugins\ml
folder?

Other xml files in other programs are all 'DOS' format
(and xml files in Winamp\Plugins\freeform\xml
are 'DOS' too.), but this file is 'UNIX' format.

New playlists are saved in 'playlists.xml' properly,
but somethings wrong in read 'playlists.xml',
So when re-run winamp, all playlists in ML are gone.
then exit winamp, and 'playlists.xml' is empty.

Portable Player still dupes on sync, other synch probs

Release notes says:

* Fixed: [ml_pmp] Duplicates being synchronized

I just tried it, and it's still making dupes.

WinXP Pro SP2, Winamp 5.22 upgraded over 5.21. Portable plugins installed are "Creative NJB Plug-in v0.4" and "PlayForSure Plug-in v0.5". Only portable device is a Creative Zen Vision:M.

Started by using Winamp to delete all music media from the Zen, then synced. 1.5 hours later, it finished synching 3218 tracks. However, on unplugging the portable it says there are 3216 tracks. Resync, and Winamp queues up a couple dozen tracks that are already on the device and were not modified in the 2 minutes since.

Also, all tracks in the Winamp library have a rating of 4 stars. On the portable, they had a rating of one star. I use ratings to track library modifcations I need to do (remove a song or re-rip/edit a song).

[edit: Fixed, patch/info here --will]

Seeking bug in in_mp4 v0.81 still exists

Hi!

Seeking bug in in_mp4 still exists (but happens randomly...)! If I have 2 .m4a files loaded in playlist, when I keep pressing the right arrow in the first song, it will stop seeking 4 seconds before the end and time will continue in normal speed but forever and the first song will be played again!

Dang. I could've sworn it was fixed. But yes, I can confirm that the m4a seek bug still exists. Maybe the fix never got checked in...?

@ circcc

Alas, I still can't reproduce the problem.
Yes, playlists.xml is written in unicode/utf-16

Header:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-16"?>

whereas other xml files may well be written in ansi, with just <?xml version="1.0" ?> header.

However, I don't think that is the cause of your problem, though there has been a few other similar reports in the "5.22 Released" thread, so I'm sure it will be looked into...

[EDIT]

Update: New ml_playlists.dll available

The fix must have got checked in because it stated in the changelog. Perhaps the fix created another bug

Things have been stated in the changelog before but not checked in.
But yes, it WAS checked in, and we're not sure why it's not working.
Again, hopefully it'll all be fixed for 5.23 (including the same issue with in_wm).

Same here. ml_playlists.dll(1.0c) didn't fix anything for me.

playlist.xml is still deleted and recreated with 0 playlists upon exiting Winamp.

Regression...

Minor glitch : If you go to preferences, then in_mp3.dll > Configure, the default extension list has 'MP3;MP2;MP1;AAC;APL;VLB'. I thought the Dolby decoder had been ditched and VLB would be scrapped from the list?

The Dolby AAC decoder is still around. There are a fair number of SHOUTcast TV streams and Winamp Music videos that still require the Dolby AAC decoder. It's not used otherwise, tho.

@ circc & lwc

Please confirm that xml.w5s exists in the Winamp\System folder

Reasons for why it might be missing are if you unchecked both of Modern Skin Support and Shoutcast Wire in the installer options (ie. it's then possible that the installer doesn't install xml.w5s, although it is required by ml_playlists.dll - and therefore this is an installer bug/issue which will be corrected for the next release).

(and be sure to be using latest ml_playlists.dll)

in_wm.dll Bug

I have been having problems displaying In2tv videos properly. These are MMS:// protocol and .WMV files. So I click on Nullsoft Windows Media Decoder 3.2 [in_wm.dll] in the Input section of the Plugins category. Then I click on configure and select WMV for the Windows Media Video files.

Here's the bug: When I click on the edit button for the WMV file extension, it shows that "Audio Only" is selected for the media type. Of course I don't want audio only for a video file, so I click on "Audio/Video" instead. I then click on "Ok" and "Save" to close out the menu and save the settings. The problem is that the settings are never saved. The plugin goes right back to having "Audio Only" checked. I even tried deleting the file extension "WMV" from the list and re-adding it, but "Audio Only" is always selected, and when I try to change it to "Audio/Video", it still won't save.

As Will edited, the dupes problem is gone now. But ratings still don't sync in either direction. I am way more happy that the dupes issue is gone than I'm slightly miffed at the ratings.

The icons for playlists in the sidebar of the media library change into arrows when a song is dragged over the top of them and dont change back again. No great tragedy but pretty annoying. The icons return if the playlists are reordered.

foo!

There is a bug in the Playlist feature in the library. When selecting "Import folder", the selection dialog says "_foo".

Have a look at the screenshot.

ml_pmp freezes after first song in long transfer queue

XP-proSP2, winamp 5.22 clean, iPod60gb-photo totally factory clean

ml_pmp freezes after transfering the 1st song in a long queue. It works fine for like an album, but larger batches of songs (synching over all my music) just make it freeze after the first song. I have to quit winamp, and restart it - after which not even the first song appears on the iPod.

Additional info: ml_pmp didn't recognize my freshly restored iPod, but I installed iTunes, set-up and then uninstalled iTunes and now the iPod is recognized. There are no iTunes/iPod software remenants on my computer... that I know of.

Playlist bug??

Not sure if this is a bug but when i have wma files in the playlist with no Artist/Track tag info, I always see the full pathname in the playlist - something like:

J:\Songs\Songs DVD (Made)\New Folder\xxxxxx.wma

which is very annoying. If this is something that I can change with the pre-existing setting then please let me know.....and in that case I am sorry for the false alarm :-)

[Edit --> DJ Egg]
Can't reproduce this. Probably something to do with your ATF string in Prefs > Titles, eg. if using $if2(%title%,%filename%) instead of the default $if2(%title%,$filepart(%filename%))

Winamp 5.22 crashes to a memory 0x0000000000 error when atsurround 0.1.4 output plugin is installed. It worked fine on 5.21.

atsurround? 3rd-party plugin ?!

If your create a new smart view and then play a file from a "Playlist" and then, while it plays, you reorder the newly created Smartview to another position, winamp often (but not always) crashes with a SEH in "ML_LOCAL".

I am using the classic skin.

[Edit --> DJ Egg]
Reproduced (eek), and fixed for 5.23

Shoutcast Wire Plugin

I've noticed in Winamp 5.22 (clean install) and previous versions that the Shoutcast Wire plugin used for downloading podcasts, does not display podcast feeds with an (.rss) extension correctly. Podcast feeds with an (.xml) extension work perfectly in the Shoutcast Wire, but RSS files do not display the entire episode download list for a feed. I have attached a screenshot of what should be displayed by the podcast feed from another player, and what Winamp 5.22 displays. Note: I'm only comparing the 2 players to better explain this bug. Winamp is a much better player overall IMO.

Try this feed to reproduce this bug. Thanks.

memory leak in in_mp3.dll while reading AAC file tags.

Open Task Manager.

Play some AAC file, click ALT+3 in winamp playlist while having it selected, close file info window, repeat clicking ALT+3 and closing window.

It also happens while pressing next button on AAC files.

Still exists in Winamp 5.22 !!

[Edit --> DJ Egg]
Can't reproduce this. I can see it using memory (which is normal/expected), but can't see it leaking memory.

Crash on entering certain (invalid) "RSS Subscription" URLs

Enter this URL: http://www.vorc.org (not an RSS feed, I was hoping for some feed discovery magic)
Crash in xml.w5s, access violation (c0000005) at offset 0000bc27 FWIW. Every other URL I tried works fine (shows "not RSS" message).

Maybe this is a core bug, but the feed stuff is in ml_wire.

[Edit --> DJ Egg]
Assuming you meant: Enter it in SC Wire > Subscriptions > Add,
I can't reproduce this issue (no crash here, using 5.23 internal beta).

OK, a real one in ml_local.dll:

Open Winamp Preferences -> Local Media -> Watch Folders and click "Rescan Now".

Any filename containing the character "&" will have it incorrectly interpreted as an accelerator key (ie. not shown, next character is underlined) when displayed next to "Scanning file". That static text field needs to have the appropriate flag flipped in the dialog resource to stop it doing that.

A couple of days before I added some bug report to a thread, but now I noticed that it was not actually in the Bugs Forum. So please allow to quote myself here:

>There is a problem adding large numbers of .MOD and .XM files to my library. This has NOTHING to do with my strange "bluescreen crash on clicking play 2x in a MOD file" issue. It also appears on Win XP.

Adding a folder with 600+ MOD/XM files will after 10 seconds result in a dialogbox saying "Illegal operation in module: IN_MOD.dll" Winamp must be closed (or similar, I only know the german texts. Typical SEH dialog.

I am using Winamp 5.22 on Windows ME and XP. Clean install, as in all my bug reports.<

M3U files not resolved when dragged into media library playlist

After upgrading from Winamp 5.21 to 5.22 when I
- Select an existing playlist in the Media Library
- and drag an M3U playlist file from the desktop or a file system folder into the detail view of that playlist

only one line is added (for the M3U file). In previous releases the M3U file was scanned and all songs from that file were added to the selected playlist in the media library.

BTW I have installed "ml_playlists.dll v1.0e" which was referenced in the first post of this thread. However my version for media Library plugin playlists shows v1.0d. Not sure, if I'm missing the latest version or that was a typo.

Best Regards,
Bernhard

ml_nowplaying.dll: "Do not allow media to switch automatically to "Now Playing"" seems to have no effect - nothing can ever switch there, whether by using IPC_MBOPEN or IPC_MBOPENREAL.
