Winamp suddenly can't rate mp3 anymore

I used to use Winamp to rate mp3's through Winamps Global Keys. Suddenly they stopped working. All the other Global Keys are still fine. But if try to rate an mp3 it won't be applied. Rating through a click in Windows Explorer is still working.

Could it be that an over-anxious Windows 7 prevents Winamp from rating?

unlikely.

what ver winamp? did u check prefs to see that it will save ratings to tag?

btw, windows has a bug that will cause RG tags to corrupt when u use windows to rate files.

preferences -> media library -> library options tab -> advanced library preferences -> "save ratings to file for compatible formats"

I also have argued in the past that the default for this should be on, not off. Winamp is a tag editor with a media library. Why would this be the one thing that isn’t automatically saved to tags? And moreover, it’s safer to save them, bc the ML can be lost, corrupted, etc. the forum has loads of sad users who found out too late their years worth of ratings are gone forever.
