Installed DSP v2.2.1, But Not Connecting?

I have installed Nullsoft Shoutcast DSP v2.2.1.
I see the meters go when I play MP3's.
However, I cannot connect to a server.
Am I missing a step here?

Windows Vista 32-bit
Winamp 5.61

Connection tab:
Address: localhost
Port: 8000
Stream ID: 1
User ID: username
Password: ********

Yellow Pages tab:
Checked-Make this server public

Encoder tab:
Encoder type: MP3

Input device: Winamp

Thank you in advance for your help!

have you made sure that you've set it to run in the correct mode for the DNAS that you're trying to connect to.

Thank you, daz (or "DrO").
I have it connected.
Now I just need to figure out how to get myself listed on the Shoutcast website.

have you checked what the DNAS log is reporting when trying to get listed?
have you set the DNAS to be 'public' so it will try to get listed?
have you opened the port you're using in the DNAS in your router to be open and linked to the machine you're running the DNAS on?

I've got it working now. I had 1 other listener confirm.
You can confirm with the link below, too.

That's running and seems to play ok.

One thing incase of having issues again, providing as much information as possible will make it easier for people to help you out as guessing what might be wrong can often waste time for both parties plus i've still no idea if what i suggested helped or if it just started working on it's own, etc.

It was the 1st DNAS suggestion.
You were right on in the 1st posted question.
For some reason, when I downloaded DNAS 1.9.5 & checked "Use SHOUTcast v1 mode (for legacy servers)", it started working.
Thank you, DrO!

er, why are you using v1.9.5? if you are going to use a v1 DNAS, you really should be using v1.9.8

Good looks. V1.9.5 was the most updated version on the cnet download website when I searched "DNAS". I guess I'll update it. I think I saw there's a 2.0, too.

ergh, that's really bad of them (and explains why i keep seeing 1.9.5 appearing in logs). really you should only be getting SHOUTcast tool downloads from the SHOUTcast site as that will have the latest versions provided. guess i'll need to find a way to get that CNET version changed / removed *joy*
