Recomandation

I was listening the ohter day to my friends Ipod and I found some really nice songs of AC-DC on it and I realized that I started to like old rock.

Do you guys know some cool old rock bands?

Those who can do, do; those who can't do, teach.

Alice Cooper (1969-1971) has been my favorite hard rock act for almost 20 years. Funny how the first one sticks with you.

There are two Alice Coopers. There's the great hard rock band and then there's the solo act (year>=1975). Skip the solo act--the solo Alice Cooper has some good songs here & there but most of the material can be filed under alcoholic decline.

I have to be honest, I was born in the 80's and still got more than my fill of 80's rock back then.

I could write a book on their prog albums (Kingdom of Madness through to The Eleventh Hour).

I'll resist that urge for now mind.

Heh .... I guess it makes a difference if you were born then, or lived through them. Personally, I do not mind it. Not my first choice of music, or second ... maybe third. Still it is bearable.

Scorpions

And if you like AC/DC, you might like these two newer similar-style rock bands:

Alice In Chains
Monster Magnet

(I often put my collections of those two bands, Scorpions and AC/DC together and do a shuffle play. They're a good mix with each other.)

I'm a psychosomatic sister running around without a leash.

Don't you know it's illegal to listen to Scorpions if you don't have a mullet and moustache?

If you like AC/DC, you'll probably like the bands that are above suggested, but most likely the ones that use a simple bare-bones setup, meaning a simple non-electric drum setup, few recording studio add-ons, few or no special effects, and nothing other than your basic singer, lead guitar, rhythm guitar, bass and drums.

Of course, most people who really are into AC/DC will likely be into the other bands listed anyway, despite the extra hair, electric drum sets, special effects, and 7,346,481 piece drum sets.

Def Leppard had a one armed drummer, but his drumset's countless modifications made it work.

Don't forget to live before you die.
