Question Adding Playlists to folders

I would like to organize the playlists (including "Smart" ones) on my iPod into folders. I have created the folders but can't figure out how to move the playlist into it. D&D doesn't work. Is there a way to do this without having to re-create the playlist with in the folder?

Thanks.

I figured it out.

You have to create a new blank playlist within the new folder so the folder is no longer empty. Then D&D will work.

I spoke too soon....

After reorganizing my playlists into folders, I ejected my iPod to see the results. Unfortunately, the folders just seem to appear as playlists, the contents of which are a full combination all the songs from all the playlists which should be within the folder as separate playlists. There is no tree. The playlists which should be in the folder are listed below the folder name on the same level.

I thought the folder would show on its own with the playlists showing when the folder is selected.

What am I doing wrong or is this a bug??

Thanks.

The full fledged feature needs an iPod 6G, see
http://mlipod.sourceforge.net/wiki/U...aylist_Folders
for the workaround.

Didn't work.

I followed the instructions EXACTLY and when I tried to eject my ipod in winamp, I got an error message that said something like "unidentifiable filetype in ID" and I had to force Winamp to close, Revert the ini file back to its original state and the run winamp again to eject my ipod.

Well, I have a 5G 60GB iPod that is properly using the playlist folders. No errors or anything.

These instructions are for the 5G/5.5G iPod. I was the one that wrote the instructions on the wiki for this. I had no problems getting this to work on my 5G.

1. Plug in iPod (WINAMP MUST NOT BE OPEN)
2. Navigate to X:\iPod_control\iTunes\ml_ipod.ini (X: being the drive letter of your iPod).
3. add plFoldersAsNotes=1 under the ml_iPod header. Save.
4. Now open winamp, wait for iPod to load, create a folder, press eject button to eject iPod. Wait.
5. On your iPod, the folders should be listed in the NOTES section of your iPod

Well it worked this time. I guess last time I hadn't created a folder because I had done all that previously. This time I just created a sub folder then deleted it and no error message. Not sure why that happened .

Thanks for the quick fix!!

enjoy. Those instructions were basically taken straight from the wiki. Was there something wrong in how the instructions were stated on the Wiki?
