Status of iPhone (iPod Touch?) support?
Hello all. I was wondering if anyone was working on iPhone and/or the new generation iPod support for Winamp? I'm increasingly annoyed that I have to use iTunes to sync my iPhone, especially now that I'm running Vista x64 and iTunes, while running fine, just refuses to let the iPhone be connected since its not a 32bit OS!
Is there any progress being made at all? I'd settle for just managing music, but I'd really like to be able to transfer pictures, videos etc... back and forth. Thanks. |

it doesn't run as a standard storage device. so I don't know if it can be done without a driver being made.

Isn't the mlipod plugin essentially a driver to foster management of the ipod style database? (IE, I know iPods are never mass storage devices etc...) Is it just an issue of encrypted or somehow different databases than the earlier models of iPod?

Seriously, iPhone support in Winamp would be amazing.
Coders are releasing apps now that support syncing without iTunes, no reason Winamp shouldnt be able to support the iPhone or iPod touch. |

Ipod Touch Support
Yea, seriously. Is anyone working on this? I can't stand iTunes anymore. Nothing is like Winamp when it comes to management.

the ml_ipod team is working hard on this.
check out this topic and get the ml_ipod plugin here if you want to help test it. you will need to download the stable release and the latest development patch. if you really want to help you could call the apple devs. and tell them to add disk mode support to the iphone and the touch. then supporting them would be cake homes32 |

Ipod Touch working with Winamp
Hey guys,
Just thought I'd stick a post down considering the number of people who've viewed this topic. I did as the above said and downloaded and installed the ml_ipod plugin and then installed the latest development patch on it, and I can manage my ipod touch through winamp 5.51 Pro perfectly. Good work guys! Jamie |

yea, seriously, F*** itunes. And yes I did not capitalize it on purpose. itunes SUCKS.
to back myself up, it uses quicktime to run. separately. anyone need other reasons? oh yeah, and Winamp has drag & drop and is Fast. |

Blargh!!
Just to warn people...I found this thread via Google when I searched for managing an iPod Touch with Winamp..
ml_ipod 3.05 does NOT WORK on the new firmware it will mess up your ipod and you will be forced to restore it and lose everything (god damnit!) That means if it's jailbroken or unlocked you have to do that all over again, unless you saved the custom firmware that pwnage creates..then you can just restore that, but you still need to load all your settings/apps again and of course you lose all your media as well.. Oh well, I hope this will help to prevent someone from ruining their device so they won't have to go through the same thing I did, heh. On a personal note I am seriously regretting purchasing this device...I've had to jump through so many friggen hoops just to get it to act like a decent media player and have cool apps on it..and at least for now I am forced to use that piece of garbage iTunes |

Yeah, I read that on the site, but I thought I would try it anyways..
I always do stuff like that :X Anyways, just warning people.. Does anyone know if ml_ipod is still under development? I mean, the last version was released 4 months ago, and Firmware 2.0 has been out for about a month..It seems as though it has been abandoned, which is sad because I really liked the UI. Would anyone be interested in starting a donation fund for the developers if they would integrate 2.0 support and / or transcoding on the fly? Again I'll express my frustration towards Apple for making it next to impossible to have people use their devices how they would like... May steve jobs die of cancer in pain pain pain! |

good idea to warn people here.
its still under development but the lead developer just had a baby so he has had other things on his mind I imagine... it appears that apple introduced a new complex hashing scheme that is taking some time for the devs to reverse engineer. heaven forbid we use something we own the way we want to. homes32 |

Winamp relies on a device mounted with a drive letter. Same with ml_ipod. Attach your iPhone/touch. There's no drive letter! It's mounted as a media device. I heard rumours of disk mode coming to iPhone/touch in later updates, which would allow it to work as a storage and not a media device.

Been several months since the last update in this thread. Anything new? I REALLY miss the ability to transcode from FLAC to MP3 on the fly when filling up my ipod.
