and if you look at http://forums.winamp.com/showpost.ph...3&postcount=40 you will see that a github link is being used.
and that google code link redirects to the github link so the point is moot. |

my overall point is that this would benefit from a user friendly page with an FAQ to cover basic points and so on, not sure why that bothers you? EDIT: I'm also interested to know if development continues, and the crashes will be fixed? i was only responding about github vs google code and that the old links re-direct to the current place and that is what i was referring to as 'moot'.
the other points are purely something for Gargaj to comment on / implement and is why I did not comment as it's not my place to comment on them. and i'm in a super cheery mood - that's the only reason why I bothered to respond. |

I've already asked many times for Gargaj updates, but I'm not asking him for updates anymore, because Winamp development is freezed... (until Radionomy releases new versions)
maybe after some months/a year/ after a new Winamp's version comes out, I'll definitively bother him again! =D |

hey mrsinatra. I was reading some of your other posts and see you have been trying to get winamp and LMS to work together somehow... I too -- I would love to use winamp just to see what's currently playing in LMS. not sure if there is a way to do this via DLNA/UPNP but there is a new LMS plugin that may be of use but it's a bit over my head:
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showth...devices/page98 your thoughts? |

This would be great as default option in a new Winamp version. It does need looking at though as I also get random crashes. Gargaj, have you had any progress looking at the code?
I'd donate to this project. Just give me a link and I'm there. Also at the github it mentions a fix for the mp3 crash issue but the link is of course dead now. Can anyone help with a correct fix link? This plugin crashes with Winamp 5.666 because the in\_mp3.dll uses some unimplemented API features internally which were never released in the official documentation; you'll notice it works fine on non-MP3 files. You can download a fix for it at http://winampplugins.co.uk/Winamp/ |

this plugin is AMAZING indeed, and me too will Donate for sure if it stays updated!
but it's already working 100% man... the only crashes are if you change song during the building, what I did here: I set to play only the 1st 8 seconds of all songs, and it never freezed anymore! (I know... crappy solution... but for now its all good) |

If I close the "Plugin" window, I can't find a way to reopen it without restarting Winamp.

if you're doing it under a modern skin that that's just how it works unless the plug-in manually adds a menu item and manages the state (otherwise you're just seeing what the modern skin engine is doing). it's worse for classic skins as that has to be all done by the plug-in....

so how did you guys get around the mp3 decoder crash issue he mentions on the github?
Is anyone else having crash issues? I could reproduce it on 2 machines a few days back with short snippet songs I use for effects using Shibatch and stock direct sound output set with crossfade on and silence removal on. Not able to do it again as yet though.. It would also be great if it was able to be made as narrow as possible in the height so would then take less ram to render and be more compact but maybe not possible |

the decoder crash relates to not using the patched 5.666 release. so using the patched version resolves the crash iirc (the wording of the message is confusing on that page) i.e. it's expecting the official in_mp3.dll and not of the 3rd party options which in-turn do weird and wonderful things.
the main issue is that the plug-in doesn't cope with changes to what is playing when it is still doing it's processing. that is what is the primary cause of the plug-in crashing and not Winamp (as long as it's patched, etc). the height of the window is limited by the skin engine(s) which is primarily going to be the minimum height of the classic main window when using Winamp's skinning (the same goes for the width of the window). aren't buggy plug-ins + Winamp such a fun thing to deal with... ![]() |

Victhor good to see someone else getting the crashes too.
It just did it again from me just normal playing with default mp3 decoder. Played same song again and no crash so doesn't seem to be song related. I have 24bit ON. Maybe I will test with it off |

I was actually pointing out that I DON'T get the crashes with default decoder Lol.. but I do see the seeking bug, that seems to be plug-in wide..

the issue is that the plug-in is doing things with the input plug-ins that aren't safe and that's why (even if you try to 'work around' things (a autohotkey script to do things is just not a solution imho), it's still got the potential to crash.
the better option would be if it used the transcoder api (though that then requires applicable input plug-in support...) to get the information which allows it to run irrespective of stream playback. it could also do the generation in the background on other files when the current file has already played if it's following what is meant to be played next and so on. |

the thing is i like this so much that I can't stop using it.
At least on my main PC. Just can't afford to use it on my DJing laptop though. One crash means lots of baaaaad dead air and stress at a gig. Haven't had one of those with Winamp for years |

describe what you are trying to accomplish. FYI, it has been possible out of the box for many years to tune winamp into LMS as if it were a web stream, but i'm not sure if it sends the metadata or not. i haven't messed with that in a long time.
