Question [ml_ipod] How to reset play count?

First of all, thanks to the developers of ml_ipod for this wonderful program (i was so happy when i uninstalled itunes).

My question is: how do i reset play count of songs played in ipod? I tried searching the wiki and even the forum, but i couldn't find any method (the only method to change playcount was the plugin by shane hird, but that doesn't work for files on the ipod).

[Additional Details:
* Ipod type is 160 GB Classic
* I manually sync the ipod (i.e. files copied to the ipod do not exist on the hard drive of the computer).
* I'm running v 3.02 of ml_ipod on the latest winamp

Thank you for your time.

I realize i didn't phrase my problem properly. I copied my songs to my ipod and deleted them from my computer (the ipod is now my primary listening device). So I'd be in some serious trouble if i asked it to sync with my winamp media library.

Even then, rescanning the entire library would be pretty problematic because i have close to 25000 songs in the ipod.

Actually, there is no way to do it. Why would you need that?

WinAmp Pro 5.5 with ml_iPod 3.10 + dev.patches (download it)

I use another player to manage my music, and I'm pretty fanatical about my play counts. With itunes, i used to make a smart playlist with all the files containing the play count, use this playlist to update the playcount in my main player, and reset the ipod play count (and repeat this process every couple of weeks).

It may sound silly, but i've been tracking my play counts for close to 2 years and i use them extensively to generate autoplaylists. So, this feature is a make or break feature for me.

I hope you will add this feature.
thanks

But if you don't have the tracks in your Winamp ML, then the play counts from the iPod get lost anyway... nothing to sync them to. You aren't interested in the plays on your iPod?

I have disabled all the options under the "sync" tab in the ipod configuration. I'm basically using winamp just to drop files into the ipod.

In my case, they do show up when viewing the songs in the ipod (please see screenshot:

I don't want the ipod to stop keeping track of the play count; i just want to be able to refresh it from time to time. Reason:

This is what I used to do with Itunes (and want to do with ml_ipod):
1. Once a week, i connect the ipod to the laptop to charge its battery.
2. I open up itunes and see what songs i played that week. Let's say i listened to album X once and album Y twice.
3. My main music library is in a server (no songs are present in the laptop to which the ipod is connnected). I use foobar to update the playcount of the songs stored in the server.
4. Now, i want to reset the playcount in the ipod (to be able to distinguish between the songs i play in the coming week from the songs i played last week).

If you can suggest a method by which i can achieve the same result (know (a) which songs were played in the past week (b) how many times they were played in the past week) without resetting, I'd be very grateful.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my posts.

I'm still not sure if I understood your handling completely, but anyway: Doenload patch p05. In the iPod tools menu (right-click on iPod icon in ML) there is the new entry for you

Could be nice. Please add this to the feature request list at SF, to insure that it gets tracked. Thanks.

I find this to be an extremely useful feature, too. +1 for including it in the next official release.

WE GOT! But doesn't work! ;-)

I've installed the last patch:
Version 3.02p23 - 01/08/2008 (Abu)
http://mlipod.sourceforge.net/?page=patches

And right click -> reset play count to 0
doesn't work. The song will come back with the old play cont after ejecting.

Maybe ml_ipod resync the old data from my local library?

PS. I've made a new user bar (look my signature) for support ml_iPod! ;-) Abu if you need some help with graphics ask me
