I was just browsing over at http://anti-dmca.org and came across the following line:

I don't how many people know this... back in the late 19th century, when the railroad tycoons were making amounts of money that make Bill Gates look poor (when inflation is taken into account), the courts actually stated that the 14th Amendment, which the first section states:

The courts decided that a corporation was a citizen under this law. Therefore the corporations could not be deprived of life, liberty and property. What this does is allow the corporations to have rights as a citizen, yet you cannot punish a corporation like you can a citizen. You can't send a corporation to jail/prison.

That decision gave corporations the foothold to control the government the way they do now. Hence, we now have the DMCA.

What what you did not mention was that (i think) that law has another implication:

Even if what I am doing legal, it doesn't matter since if it hurts a coorporation, then the government/ coorporation (whats the difference?) can then kick your ass for it

I did know that ZacCrain but money is more important then life or justice. The whole justice under god thig is just there to make you feel better. Amazingly it works.

Money is more important to INDIVIDUALS... but corporations have the resources to throw money at cases against them, in order to lock them up with paperwork so long that the other party will just come to a settlement. If you can't lock up a corporation like an individual, then they can keep doing whatever they're doing, and they can keep throwing money at the complaints, and because they're raking in so much money they are easily able to buy politicians so laws don't change against them.

You're still talking about INDIVIDUALS... I whole-heartedly agree... money > life for individual persons. What I'm saying is that you cannot punish a corporation the same ways as a person, even though they supposedly fall under the same protections (vulnerabilities as well) as any other citizen. If they are considered a citizen, then they should be equal, just like any other citizen. The corporation should be able to go to jail like any other individual (yes, you can lock up execs, staff, etc, but the corporation is still free), however, this is not a possibility, therefore, a corporation should not be protected under the 14th amendment. We should not have corporations controlling politicians like puppets. And there should not be a DMCA.
