Major Power Outage..

I was just wondering how many people from this forum were affected by the power outge. We were here in Lockport NY which is like 45 min from Buffalo NY.

Went out at around 4:30pm and we regained power here at around 9:00pm.Some parts are still without power. They say it was a overload/technical prob, not terrorism.Im curious what you think.Type here if you were affected, and if you feel it WAS terrorist,or just a Technical prob like they say.

If your world doesn't allow you to dream, move to one where you can.

Think someone already posted about this. But anyway ya i was affected... it sucked major ass. I was at the movies when the power went out and was stuck there for almost an hour waiting for a refund. After that it wasn't too bad for me because my friends came over and we all just went down to the river and went fishing until about 9PM then went swimming in my pool. I hope its all over now though.

I remember one of the biggest power outages in recent US history that happened in the west coast back in August 1996, about 95% of California, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Idaho, Arizona, and Utah were completely powerless for about 16-20 hours.

I'm over on the West coast, but my webserver is loacted in NY. Luckily they have batteries and a generator, so it wasn't offline for a second.

there was another huge power outage back in 2000 in the ever popular "rolling blackouts" where PG&E were making up shit just to get more money out of us.

My cousin's out roaming the black streets right now. It's 1 am.
wait. Almost 1:30.

He lives in New York, luckily he had his laptop (which died about twenty minutes after I talked to him) and his cell phone.

I work in a meatroom, so all I can think about is all the spoiled food everybody will have in thier refridgerators when this is all over.

i believe that a secret experiment has been going on, one that keeps alive by feeding from the grid and the only way to get it back is to turn the power off.

however...

at least you all know how the iraqi's feel

I do believe that I am in a state that has an advanced powergrid and actually is a power company that will make money rather than losing it. Plus PNM is an award winning 2003 Utility Leadership for Wind Energy.

No power outages due to stress on the system, and the only one was because of natural causes that burned down transmission lines from the powerplant to the state.
