                Except Winamp is eternal.
Although it physically manifested in 1997, its conceptual spiritual roots transcend the boundaries of time and space.

My reply may have been too cryptic... I got the joke... but was looking for MORE!!!

(Also I mistakenly used a memey (memie? memeish?) reply from another forum... which would have confuddled most people on here)

Does anyone know at what specific time tomorrow (20th) will this site go down? I would like to tune back in a final time to see if a final updated release shows up. So anyone knowing the shut down time (EST/PST)?

Oh, and thanks again for all that you folks have done to build this program. I've used it since the '90's and it's been a good friend. Like so many others, I'm going to continue to use it till the wheels fall off! Hopefully, you guys can put together a new company and save it . Thanks in advance.

AOL Finalizing Talks To Sell Winamp And Shoutcast, No Shutdown Expected On Dec. 20
AOL is finalizing negotiations to sell off Winamp and Shoutcast in a deal that would allow both products to live on, according to a source with knowledge of the discussions. The company (which owns TechCrunch) announced last month that as of December 20, Winamp web services would shut down and that the desktop version of the video and music player would no longer be available for download.

I had to read it twice to be sure. Is this for real? Winamp will still whip the llama's ass?

Great news, long live Winamp. Hopefully though the buyer is someone who continues to respect the users, meaning not you Microsoft. I'll stick with 5.66 for good rather than install Winamp metro. Not everyone is on tablets and desires touch screens.

I read somewhere that the next Windows Phone will ditch Metro.. I thought phones and pads was the only place where it potentially was good.. but I guess it's just bad

Good news about discussions of passing Winamp on to someone.. hopefully it will continue to be a great music player
