"this version of in_mp4 requires winamp 5.12+"

Hi,

I am a new user to Winamp. I have just downloaded the latest 5.12 trial.

I have downloaded the ml_iPod plugin so I can avoid using iTunes, however when I try to send a .wma file to my iPod I get this error:

"this version of in_mp4 requires winamp 5.12+"

in_mp4 seems to be a standard plugin and I have the latest version of Winamp, so what could be going wrong?

S

iPod doesnt support .wma files so your gonna have to use mp3 files.
And also, winamp is free so theres no trial of course

you seem to be new at this so if you want tips on how to rip mp3s (the best way) just ask

Well... this message pops up because Winamp will automaticlly try to transcode tp MP3 or M4A using the transcode plugin. I tried to transcode stuff to M4A to MP3 today and got the same message, even though using Winamp 5.12.

What do I do?

Okay, I'm using the free version of winamp (not pro), just got an iPod Nano, downloaded ml_iPod. Okay, I also have a University version of Napster so that I can download unlimited songs. The problem is that they have .wma protection (I can't burn without buying the tracks). I'm very new to this, and I guess there was some misread items while downloading all this, is it possible for me to transcode or rip or do anything to my .wma tracks so that I can use it on my iPod? Do I need to buy the pro version? Sorry if I'm in the wrong forum, or if this has been posted before. Thanks for the help.

DRM protected WMA files (from Napster) cannot be transcoded (legally) for the iPod.
