Conditional DSP

A plugin that could detect a condition and turn on or off DSP.
For example if I where to play a stream or a lossy file it would leave on but if I was playing a lossless file it would disable DSP.

Conditional DSP

Automatic feature that would enable or disable DSP, for example disabled while playing lossless formats and enabled while playing lossy music.

Thanks,

intelligent DSP plugin toggle

Please develop inteligent criteria in winamp that would turn on or off DSP plugins.

For example if playing a lossless file the DSP plugin would switch OFF and if playing a lossy file DSP would switch plugin ON.

Hi JPRG,

While your request sounds good in theory, it may not work very well in practice. During real-time playback it could take several seconds for the DSP effects to cut off and kick in, due to buffering in the DSP and the output plug-ins.

A short period of 'bad' sound (even a few seconds) lingers in my mind and tends to destroy my enjoyment of a song.

Even if playback of the next song is somehow delayed to allow for flushing buffers, the length of the delay may be undesirable. I can tolerate a short pause between songs, but I prefer gapless playback and even some crossfading from time to time.

If you can live with these potential drawbacks, please provide thinktink more details on what you would like to be able to do. I would love to see what he may be able to come up with. What I do now (probably what you do as well) is make separate playlists of songs that benefit from DSP processing and those that don't. Then I can set up or disable my DSP plug-in before playing the lists.

I would love an automatic switch that would detect a music file type aka .mp3, flac, wav, acc, ogg, mp4, m4a, etc.

if lossless = true turn DSP´s off.
and if lossless = false turn DSP´s on.

As for delay i think if it is based on file extention it would be close to 0.
