Beginner needs help

I have installed Shoutcast on a linux server, then once I typed ./sc_serv, it says:

[sleeping] 0 listeners (0 unique)

then I go to winamp to listen to the connection but it gives me a ICY 404 Resource not found error.

Why? I have a few mp3s on my "content" directory, so I don't know why it's not running.

Thank you.

[Edit --> DJ Egg]
Moved from WA-TS to SC-TS
Hmm... no I didn't. Someone beat me to it, lol.

[Edit -Tom]
I did... Good to see you again Egg.

It sounds like you tried to connect via the http://IP:PORT/listen.pls link. This will only stream live content which you are not doing (you would need to do this either via Winamp w/ SHOUTcast DSP or for a *nix solution use sc_trans from SHOUTcast.com). For on-demand content (that is content that resides in the content directory) you need to use a link like the following: http://IP:PORT/content/file_name.pls (where file_name is the name of the desired file in the content directory).

I have tried it but..

I have tried it but it doesn't work. It still complains that it is an invalid resource request.
