Playing with Jelly...

...that is what I find myself doing lately. Or rather, mixing a new iteration of the Space Gelatin/Jelly shader...

I think that with version 3, I might have found a worthy candidate. Which might've been easier if I understood more about maths and shaders.

Anyway, here's a pack containing my efforts, including some in-between versions.

at how much much frames per second do you use to create these effects? - at ~20 fps they look very cool, but i find at 75fps they are kind of overpowered.
my favorite is the Eo.s' glowsticks mix, and i also like the 'drug addict' preset because it shows how to squeeze jelly out of only one single color channel (warp shader puts out gradient black to yellow -> red equals green -> only one channel needed).
yes, try to mix your jelly effect on a separated channel. if you're then able to lower the amount of used pixel shader operations, this is a very cool and easily reusable layer for a whole array of future presets. give it a try and then remix on the color channel level. maths is overrated.

...and you don't know less about shaders then me - it's only learning by doing

Well, I checked and I had set a limit at 30 fps, it seems... which of course screws up some per-frame timings and leads to different effects.

I'm not sure I can get the effect I desire with only a few instructions - more than half of my shader code is guesswork and tuning, and I probably always end up with extra baggage that couldv'e been done in a much more elegant way. Getting the effect from a single color channel should work fine, though.

Also, I tried a different fragment of your raised border calculations, which has lead to a more versatile variant.
I think if I do some fine-tuning to achieve less overall brightness, I can be quite content with this one.

A variant that ignores the original colours.

...in other news, it's my birthday!

To celebrate, why don't we have some more experimental Jelly? This time, I fixed some of the brightness issues. Sort of. It still doesn't work well with the Skin Dot effects.

Also, thanks for the feedback. Some fine mixes you got there, ORB.

Possibly because of your brightness setting, different gfx chips or subjective perception.

Also, something bright and colorful, but completely tasteless I came across yesterday:

Some bits and pieces I can up with. Its more like jelly and water now . You may have to load the random texture presets a few time to get a good texture.

No PS3.0 capabilities at the moment... -_-

Anyway, I came up with some tuning that looks promising...

...and another mashup pack.

Some of these are a bit noisy, which helps the transparency effect.
