Trouble w/ both servers, can't save config, can't get Authhash

Before I even get started. Thank you for checking this situation out.

Yes I have read "Read Before You Post" by Jay and " SHOUTcast Authhash Management Support" by DrO and the documentation on how to get started with DNAS and sc-trans.

1) Can't figure out how to back up my config file. I even tried the security settings tab under flash, but that didn't help. I have rewritten that thing at least 10 times. Sheezzzs!

2) Under the Encoder, Targets, and Endpoint section. I have gone ahead and purchased the MP3 name and code but cannot find where to register my stream and get my authhash. Again I have read about the old way to do this and the new way as the " SHOUTcast Authhash Management Support" article by DrO suggested.

The directions specifically state that I have to have a DNAS sever properly connected in order to type in http://127.1.1.1:800/admin.cgi to get to the Administration Login, which will get you to the DNAS Summary page.

Yes I have added SHOUTcast to my firewall, port forwarded 8000, and have tried this with and without my virus software being on. I am running XP and Firefox.

Heck, I even tried installing this program to My documents and dragging an dropping the config file on the sc_serve icon and the sc_trans icon.

What I have done and the programs behavior:
I used the configuration builder to set things up. I double clicked on the sc_server icon and press 0 to start the server, which causes that particular window to disappear. Thinking I have a running server somewhere on my system I typed http://127.0.0.1:8000/admin.cgi, which returned a blank page telling me to try again.

Okay I'm thinking I'll have a better shot with sc_trans. I repeat the steps above, but I press 5 and enter. The window stays up, but gets hung up after "begin decoding." In the next line it says that it is connecting to the steam, then on the next line it gives a 163324 error: Error connecting to the stream host. Nontheless sc_trans.exe file continued to try to execute a connection every 30 seconds. At this point I am thinking that maybe the server is running on my end but is having a connection problem. So I take Jay's advice and use the Radio Toolbox Port Scanner, which tells me that the port is open and un-firewalled, but there are no resources attached or being used by that port. Despite this I try to get to the Administrator Login and DNAS Summary Pagel. Nothing.

I would really appreciate any time this community could spare in helping me with my issue. I have been working on this for the last 16 hours, reading everything I can get my hands on about the subject. Some of the information is just my speed and the other half I have to break out a dictionary (but I am looking up what I don't understand); however where it counts I think I am doing it right.

Thanks for your help in advance.

I have read all of the stuff that pertains to my OS and situation and I have already read the second and third links information top to bottom twice. I've watched every YouTube video out there on the subject of installing SHOUTcast. Heck, I even saw the one that thinkthink did. I did come across a post that went through the config file step by step, but when the author showed a screen shot of the server window, it was of sc_serve and is stayed up long enough for the author to capture a screen shot. For me that first window blips up and its gone in a flash. The sc_trans stays there but looks nothing like other screen shots I have seen on the net. I have not yet seen an instance were sc_serve or sc_trans made anyone choose a number to start a session. I am only in my 16 hour trying to figure this out, who knows someone out there may prove me wrong.

In the mean while I will do as you suggest and re-read the material. Hopefully it will be okay to check in tomorrow if I still haven't found the answer I am looking for.

By the way, should I have to modify the config files in the root folder. I opened a few in word pad and saw places were I should change passwords and enter authhash?

I've setup a server with config builder on it. The old links will redirect to it. If you still can't manage to get the downloaders to work when viewing the config builder pages from local storage try the online one instead.
